The Democrat-led Senate yesterday adopted legislation giving homosexuals additional protections under federal hate-crime laws, attaching the measure to the defense authorization bill and daring President Bush to veto it as promised.
"The president of the United States has never vetoed, in the history of the United States, a defense authorization bill," said Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, Massachusetts Democrat and chief sponsor of the amendment. "For this reason and for many others ... the defense authorization deserves to be passed [into law]."

Protected from what?
I am frustrated about this because, in this case, there is a hate crime, homosexual rights rider attached to a completely unrelated bill. I know that this is how things are done in Washington sometimes. They really ought to vote on things individually. Vote on the defense authorization alone, and then vote separately on homosexual rights. A Democrat congress should not be giving the president package deal bills that will cause problems no matter what he decides.
Can you imagine if a future Republican congress sent President Hillary a combination bill with provisions for gay rights and banning funding of abortion or birth control in her pet health care legislation?
White heterosexual males who are prone to committing hate crimes just by their existence.
They (the dhimmicrats) ram every perverse pro gay legislation through that they can. At the same time they force every bit of pro Muslim culture preference legislation into law.
So what do they suppose will happen in 10 years when you have a completely protected group, loud, in-your-face gays confronted by violent untouchable islamofacists?
To dhimmiRats it just doesn’t matter. As long as they have the money and votes now. They don’t give a damn about the hell they create for the rest of America.
Who dreams up this crap?
There must be a reason, aside from pushing gay "rights." Kennedy is a strategist. He figures this is a win-win for the democrats. If Bush vetoes, they claim he isn't serious about supporting the troops. If he doesn't, they prove he's a lame duck and boost the donations they'll get from the gay rights lobby.
You should be beaten. Do you have any idea how long it’s going to take to wash the reality off of these fingers?
Compared to these people, scum is clean and wholesome.
Shouldn't be allowed.
Don’t think this is a coincidence, either—the Dems LOVE associating “gay rights” with the military. It’s a really childish way for these pacifists to “get back” at the eeeevil military machine they so loathe.
ROFL
Did Mary Jo weigh in on this bill?
Yes, according to Hollywood there are male white heterosexuals carrying heavy bloodstained clubs lurking in every shadow, waiting for the first gay to pass. And we all know Hollywood strives hard to portray life in America as accurately as possible, don't we?
Hey Kennedy you Commie Pervert! That’s a Bill of Attainder,
and therefore UN-Constitutional.
Eventually the Supreme Court will have to take on "thought crimes" head-on, at which point these special political protections (or, other way around, the "attainder" for others that you describe) will be exploded.
Meanwhile, a lot of really vile things will happen at the behest of people like GLAAD, the HRC bunch, and Teddy Kennedy, which may add up to systematic persecution of Christians. In Alberta, a Protestant minister who had the effrontery to preach undiluted Leviticus is on trial for his freedom before a Leftist kangaroo court of special jurisdiction.
“There must be a reason, aside from pushing gay “rights.” Kennedy is a strategist.”
And the Catholics in Mass. vote for this moron, why?
LINE ITEM VETO...the answer, but they won’t give it...

I’m Catholic. Parishes differ one from the other socially and politically. Mine is fairly conservative; in midtown there’s a congregation that would boo/hiss anyone who walked in wearing a uniform. And this is South Carolina.
Massholes are Massholes, regardless of denomination.
