(The Politico) Democrats are getting a good ride this week out of President Bush's looming veto of the children's health insurance bill, and they're not afraid to tug at the heart strings a bit to play out this issue.
Earlier in the week, House Democrats brought children to a press conference on the State Children's Health Insurance Program. Senate Democrats upped the pressure on Wednesday when they brought a priest, a nun and a rabbi as part of a "people of faith" press conference pressuring Bush to sign the $35 billion expansion of the SCHIP program.
And tomorrow, a 12-year-old boy who receives SCHIP benefits will read the weekly Democratic radio address. The boy, Graeme Frost of Baltimore, who suffered severe brain injuries in a car accident a few years ago, says he may not have survived his injuries and the follow up therapy if he hadn't been receiving the federal health benefits.
Republicans have moaned that Democrats have used children as props during this debate, but a spokesman for Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) was unapologetic.
"What exactly is the problem with having a young person who knows first hand the importance of chip deliver the radio address?" spokesman Jim Manley said.
Check out the Graeme's full radio address after the jump.
Democrats make me sick.
Broad Unifying Liberal State Children’s Health Insurance Program:
BULSCHIP
Can this Dem scum get any lower? Using afflicted children as props to attack the President is beneath contempt. No wonder their approval rating is the lowest in the history of the USA.
Think “pond scum”.
The source is blocked, this link has a pic to the poor kid they’re using:

I can't recall ever hearing a better analogy. Well said.
And - if I understood the segment I (accidentally) saw on NBC news - this kid has been covered UNDER THE CURRENT PROGRAM. They also said the income cap is now 41K, and that the Dems “want to protect 10 million more kids”...conveniently neglecting to mention that to do so would require the income cap to be raised to 80K. Typical obfuscating bastards.
No surprise they would do this. These are the same people who lied a year ago and said the whole GOP Congress was essentially protecting child molesters because one solitary US rep sent some raunchy emails to guys who used to work with him at the capitol. It is just ridiculous.
Limbaugh had the definitive comment on SCHIP today. He pointed out that if the Democrat bill passes you could have families qualifying for health care payments as indigents who are also subject to the AMT, the tax designed to “make the millionaires” pay their fair share. This proves beyond any doubt that the Federal Government has gone completely insane.
bump
These people who are not “needy” and who have an income of up to around $83,000 a year would be able to afford health insurance, if they gave away some creature comforts that that we as a society have said they need to have, such as the 2 televisions in their home, cable TV, $4 cup of Starbucks, etc. People need to take responsibility for their family, to have a budget, to buy insurance. And as for those lazy lardasses who spend all day lounging around, never providing the food that will enter their mouths or their childrens’ mouths- well they have no excuse. We should not have to pay for them in any way if they are physically able to work and make a living.
Oh, yeah- remember the media frenzy at Walter Reed the week of March 6th? (I remember this well, because that was the week of my last surgery there.) Well, that is a perfect example of what to expect with government-run health care. No one to blame when things go wrong. Tons of indifferent staff. I have to clarify that my surgeon and his staff were very nice and did their best to take care of me, but there were night nurses who couldn't have care less about me.
ps. If anyone has ever been to the CT section at Walter Reed, you have to know about the completely useless lady who simply checks people in.... Out of the 8+ visits to the section, she NEVER seemed to want to do her job. I don't want every kid in America to have to put up with that sort of jerk because they can't go anywhere else.
What do the Democrats and Zed from “Pulp Fiction” have in common?
When in doubt...they both bring out the gimp.
Socialism always, always results in a regime where the poor subsidize the wealthy.
Not that 80K is wealthy, but why should someone who makes 35K a year pay to give free health care to the children of people who make 80K?
