Speaker Pelosi Determines "Christianity Has Not Been Harmed" by S&M Last Supper Mockery

SAN FRANCISCO, September 28, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Following the discovery of an ad for a sadomasochistic street parade in San Francisco which mocked the Last Supper replacing Christ and His Apostles with leather-clad (and unclad) homosexuals, Concerned Women for America (CWA) and other groups called on California legislators to denounce the anti-Christianity.  Rather than denounce the ad, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has derisively dismissed any concerns.

Drew Hammill, Pelosi's press secretary, responded to media questions on the offensive ad saying, "As a Catholic, the speaker is confident that Christianity has not been harmed."

The offensive ad was put together by organizers of San Francisco's partially taxpayer funded and Hedonistic Folsom Street Fair - sponsored by Miller Brewing, Co. - which will take place this Sunday.  Over 400,000 people are expected to attend.

"As if the add itself isn't offensive enough," said, Matt Barber, CWA's Policy Director for Cultural Issues, "we have photographic evidence that the San Francisco government suspends indecency and child abuse laws for a day allowing fair goers to parade the streets of San Francisco, fully nude, engaging in illegal public sex while tax-payer funded police stand-by and do nothing."

"Children are allowed to - and do - attend this event and are exposed to this activity which is illegal child abuse," added Barber.  "We're a nation of laws, and we're calling on Mayor Gavin Newsom to enforce the law and for San Francisco police to arrest lawbreakers on Sunday."

Pelosi, who is a major supporter of the "gay" lifestyle, will be receiving an award from the radical homosexual group, "Human Rights Campaign" on October 6th.

> What is her feeling on the harm done to Islam via the editorial cartoons in Europe?

I don't think she ever said Islam was harmed by the cartoons. (If I'm mistaken, please correct with cite.)

Any religion worth its salt is not harmed by offensive satire and tasteless abuse. People like you and me get grossed out, but that's very different from damage to the religion. One must differentiate between offense, and harm.

We may note that Muslims go ballistic over offenses, and generally try to murder the offender. Christians withstand offenses, and generally pray for the offender. That in itself says much about the relative strength of the religions.

Such mockery can hardly fail to diminish the reputation of Christ in the minds of the observer. She is a plain fool if she thinks otherwise. If I were to spit in her face would she be physically “harmed<” but would she accept the indignity? I imagined that if I did that I would be hustled off to jail, because I have expressed my intention to do harm should the opportunity arise. Who knows but that some poor soul might not be encouraged to desecrate a church by the example of this men example.

It's ok for Homosexuals to be open, but it's a hate crime to oppose them.

It would be a Hate crime to do this about Muslims!

Aren't they just freeking special.

Good point, and I agree. Let 'em do it, but on their own nickel.

Sure, we can “deal” with it....but, it does NOT lift up humanity.....so, in a sense, YES, it harms Christianity (and humanity.) JMHO

...When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn’t a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out. —Martin Niemöller (1892–1984)

That would explain Nancy’s support for abortion: God is not harmed in an abortion.

Nancy Pelosi’s opinion on what harms Christianity is just as valid as asking Adhminajad for BBQ’ed pork recipes....

It would seem that they should know what they are talking about, but alas, that never stops them from speaking anyway...

SF, can the earthquake come soon enough?

The Church is the Body of Christ. Jesus lives today in His Church. I think He is hurt by this - wouldn’t you be if you were Him? Well, if you are a Christian, He lives in you! Pelosi is clueless on what Christianity even means.

The Lord and His Church are certainly saddened by this, but not harmed.

We MUST believe Him when He says that “the gates of Hell shall not prevail against His Church.”

The problem is we have ignored them and their hedonistic behaviors for too long, they have infiltrated the schools, the APA, the courts, the legislatures, the governorships, and every major city not to mention some small towns, via their abomination parades. They have made every attempt, and will continue to, infiltrate the institution of marriage and Churches. When exactly is enough enough???

The percentage of human population that is homosexual has remained fairly steady throughout recorded history. (The same is true of non-human species which evidence homosexual behavior.)

That percentage has been reflected in nearly every occupation, including schools, governments, courts, and whatnot; higher percentages have traditionally been found in the arts (especially performance art) and artistic professions such as decorating and personal grooming.

What has occurred in recent decades is that they are no longer as bound to maintain secrecy. But they were there all along.

Are you proposing a purge, such as was done in Germany in WWI, or in Iran today, to kill them off? That's at best a temporary solution, since every generation will re-instate that percentage again, plus or minus a little variation.

Or do you propose to make it illegal to be homosexual, so that the queers merely go back to hiding? There really is no way to eliminate them except by killing them.

I understand your frustration ("enough is enough!") but I feel compelled to respond that you are only reacting to the openness and flaunting that has grown rampant in recent years -- the personal homosexuality has been there all along, and will remain.

I believe the same is true of the BSDM (whips and leather) folks, the fetishists, and other assorted weirdos. Every civilization has had them. In ours today, they are more brazen and offensive. But the best you can hope to do (assuming you don't feel up to tolerating them) is to smash them back into the closet, or take up a campaign to kill every child and young adult at the first signs of deviance from a prescribed "normality".

I really don't think you want to go down that road.

Take heart, the current fit of brazenness and offensive behavior is temporary. It'll dissipate in time, when it like all other aberrations eventually becomes boring.

Sorry, typo:

...a purge, such as was done in Germany in WWI, ...

Meant that to be "WWII", not "WWI".
