It was January 2005, and Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton had just finished a solemn speech about abortion rights urging all sides to find common ground on the issue, and referring to abortion as a sad, even tragic choice to many, many women.
Stepping offstage, she took questions from reporters, and found herself being grilled about whether she was moderating her own pro-choice position. And suddenly it happened: Mrs. Clinton let loose a hearty belly laugh that lasted a few seconds. Reporters glanced at one another as if wed missed the joke.
This was my first close encounter with Senator Clinton, and with The Cackle.

Feeling the heat. She knows that at some point someone is going to get up the courage to ask her a question from the huge list of questions we all want the answers to.
Yeah.... That's patronizing. Gawd she is awful!
If it walks like a duck and cackles like a duck, it's a bitch!
Will the NY Times ever say a disparaging word about Hillary. Every article on her is puff apiece.
One thing if she becomes President. The country will probably have an abundance of eggs. Every time she cackles, she must be good for at least a dozen eggs.
“You all know Gandhi. He ran a gas station down in St Louis. ...”
*CACKLE*
Cankles and Cackles and Marxism, oh my!
Shell be our first president that you cant spill water on, Mr. Stewart said.
Fred Hochberg, a fund-raiser, supporter, and friend of Mrs. Clinton, put it this way: You know what, feigning a laugh as in feigning a tear is really hard to do. It feels genuine to me. If you dont think something is funny, its really hard to laugh on cue.
Anybody got the video of Bill at the Ron Brown funeral?
It’s pretty obvious that someone has told her that “the cackle” is the way to handle difficult questions.
Can you imagine her in diplomatic relations with some foreign leader who lays forth an uncomfortable proposal and she lets loose with that crap?
Exquisite tagline material. May I?
Jokes are jokes. Obvious points are obvious points. TheCackle is to cover the fact that she has no obvious point and she is a joke.
I think she laughs deliberately. It’s just SO amusing to see these reporters lamely attempt to grill her. It must be all she can do to keep from guffawing at their timidity. Now if someone ever asks her a REAL question, for example, “Do you believe Juanita Broaddrick or Kathleen Willey?” or “Why are you afraid of ABC releasing ‘The Path to 9/11’ on DVD?” she will NOT be laughing.
I suspect something.
BanShe.....I LOVE IT!
Isn’t Fred Hochberg involved somehow in the HSU fundraising scandal?? I seem to recall his name.
Apparently so
He starts with a simple question: why is Norman Hsu, the bundler di tutti bundlers, listed as the bundlee on a donation he made in June of this year? Hsus supposed to be out there rounding up new contributors for the Democrats; hes the last guy whod need to be solicited for a donation by some other fundraiser. From that slender thread comes a pattern linking his contributions to those of Fred Hochberg, CEO of the Lillian Vernon catalog company, fellow HillRaiser and trustee of the New School, and former cabinet member in the Clinton administration. Hsu didnt make his first political donation until 2003 but Hochbergs been donating to Democratic campaigns for years and, funny thing, Hsu seems to favor (and disfavor, in the case of Chuck Schumer) the very same candidates Fred Hochberg does. Is Hochberg simply advising him on which Democrats are good eggs and which are bad or is there something more to the apparent collusion here that might explain, at least in part, how Hsu came by all that filthy lucre that went into the Democrats coffers

Fred Hochberg must be DIRTY....tied into Hsu AND the Clintons. hmmmmmm
Every time I’ve heard her laugh in interviews it appeared very scripted and fake to me.
