Close The U.N.

The World Stage: Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad denies the Holocaust, sponsors terrorism and colludes in the murder of American troops. So why is he given the honor of addressing the United Nations on U.S. soil?

To us, the answer is clear. The U.N. is as corrupt, brutal and morally compromised as Ahmadinejad himself. In its many affronts to civilization and decency, the U.N. has long since outlived its usefulness and reason for being. Time to shut it down.

I've been for closing their present digs and moving it to some location where the largesse these clowns rake in would benefit the local economy. Zimbabwe comes to mind.

This should be a major part of the GOP campaigns and issues.

When I was younger and naive, I used to pass houses with “Get the US out of the UN now! signs and never really understood the angst.

Now I get it.

This cannot be said enough and should be e-mail to every elected politician in America.

Close it and convert the building into low cost housing. Let it move to Venezuela or some other porta-potty state.

My dad ‘splained those signs to us when we were young. I do, however, think that the thieves have become much more emboldened since the clintons infected the whole nation.

...we are now a liberal/socialist nation and heading farther left at light speed. The UN may soon be our masters.

Many liberal pansies (like those in our congress) would disagree. Let those of us who have sufficient years left check out the truth of your statement.

One fact we shouldn't forget: Russia and China are behind everything evil that happens in the world. It does seem that most of this evil visits itself on the United States.

These two are behind North Korea and they're behind Islam terrorism and have been for decades.

Arab nations and islamic jihad factions are the paymasters, but the money and hardware comes from those two nations.

I’d prefer moving the UN to Haiti, myself; but Zimbabwe would work, too.

It should be, but too many GOP quietly support the UN.

Senator Jesse Helms was the first Senator to ever address the U.N. He addressed them January 20, 2000. We were all yelling bravo! We thought it might make them change their ways but it didn't. You might be interested in his speech.

No, it must be disbanded completely because of all the multilateral treaties held there, virtually all of which should be rescinded for their unconstitutional scope.

Low cost housing?? You’re kidding!! Just look at the building and its awesome views. What better place for a giant CASINO, with very costly hotel rooms above, each having a magnificent view of the world’s most exciting skyline.
Employment for thousands of AMERICANS, vast sums in revenue for the city and state of New York would be just the start. Vastly increased tourism would benefit the entire area, from restaurants, theaters, Broadway, the list is endless.
Next week would be a good time to start.

I believe Japan said it would pull funding if the US did. Seeing how the US and Japan are the two largest contributors that would probably kill it swiftly. Not to mention, why have a UN without the US? Europe is largely irrelevant in power projection terms.

Casinos? That certainly would be an improvement in the moral climate of the location!

Agreed, but it won’t. Still, any candidate who asked the UN to go to the Hague, not unreasonable, might get some real support round the nation.
