The Boston Globe ^ | September 27, 2007 | By Lisa Wangsness, Globe Staff

CHICAGO - Late on a balmy Friday night in Wicker Park, a gentrifying neighborhood just northwest of the Loop, a small tribe of 20-somethings gathers outside a corner bar. Their leader, a petite, energetic 25-year-old named Meghann Walker, hands out leaflets to people heading inside.

"Do you guys know Ron Paul is going to be in town tomorrow?" Walker asks a short-haired young woman in jeans and flip-flops. "There'll be a lot of good people there, that's for sure."

I knew you couldn’t come up with a straight answer... just like a “Leftie”.

You don't know a straight answer when you see one.

Statements are just symbolic words...

And this holds true only for Ron Paul?

The Paul detractors are emotional, aren't they. The don't wish to see the vote of the sorry GOP get split. What I find amusing is that they say "He's irrelevant, fringe kook, etc.,and then go out of their way to come to the Paul threads to spew their bile. They do protest too much.

Interesting, that's the second Paul supporter today implying there will be a 3rd party effort if the 95% to 99% of Republicans who don't support Paul don't board the Paul ferry immediately.

Is it possible the no 3rd party run mantra isn't true?

This is a Conservative pro-American website. You’re lost.

It's also a news discussion forum, Petronski.

While I agree that JimRob (You already pinged him so I don't need to) has the right to set the rules, Paul is still a legitimate presidential candidate and threads about him will be posted, as well as comments posted both pro and con.

The problem IS obvious. You didn’t say Americans in the last 150 years of history. And if you have problems with Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, you’re worse than I thought.

My American heroes of the last 150 years (unsolicited but heck, I like the topic):

Reagan
Hoover
Pershing
John Dos Passos
Werner Von Braun (I’ll make him an American for this list)
Everyone involved in making the 1960’s space program happen
Fermi
I don’t know who else offhand

A Paul pointed out, 9/11 deaths represented only a single month of traffic deaths.

Did you know 41,000 died on the highway in 1941? One month of traffic deaths.

But he is pro-American - even if after a half hour he couldn’t answer - it’s just that America has been so un-American for so long.

Winston Churchill was made an honorary American citizen and I’ll give odds Margeret Thatcher will be also. But then again, they were more pro-American than many born or naturalized here.

The question also was, name your American Heroes.

This could be interpreted two ways.

Name Americans who were your heroes.

or

Name heroes to Americans.
