MILLER BREWING KNOWS THE STAKES: MUST PULL SPONSORSHIP OF OBSCENE EVENT(Catholic League)
Catholic League ^ | September 25, 2007 | staff

Posted on 09/26/2007 7:49:01 AM PDT by kellynla

On September 30, San Francisco’s Folsom Street Fair will be held. The ad for this year’s gay/leather event depicts half-naked homosexuals at a table mimicking the Last Supper. The sadomasochistic theme features sex toys displayed on the table.

Catholic League president Bill Donohue explains his response today:

“Kudos to Concerned Women for America for bringing this obscenity to the attention of the public. Their strategy is to get California politicians to denounce this event. Our strategy is to get Miller Brewing Company to withdraw its sponsorship. Here’s why.

“There are several sponsors to this street fair, but most are local and represent niche markets; Miller is the only national household sponsor. Furthermore, Miller has a record of acceding to requests from various segments of the population that have objected to certain ads: it has bowed to the wishes of Muslims, African-American clergy, lawyers and feminists by pulling ads deemed offensive. Surely it will do the same in this instance: the ad, like the event, is morally depraved. Indeed, it is the kind of ad that only the enemies of Christians would entertain.

“We have contacted Miller Brewing and expect that they will cooperate and do what is ethically right.”

“I think this is something Roman Catholics and Lutherans can agree on?”

I would “think” that any Christian or Jew who practices his or her faith would agree. Unfortunately we have entirely too many JINO’s & CINO’s in America & in the world.

When I was a little kid, I begged my uncle for a drink of his beer because he was obviously enjoying it so much.

He gave me a sip: it tasted awful!

He said, “I know, it tastes like horse pee. Why do you think Budweiser has all those Clydesdales?”

Is Red Dog even around anymore? I haven’t seen that in years, not that I would ever drink it again.

Well, what's happened in the liquor industry (& in fact all beverage & food products) is that (a) companies keep expanding their products line-up; (b) a lot of smaller companies--in this case smaller brewing companies--are new competitors; and store/restaurant/bar shelf space only holds so many products.

So while the product still exists somewhere out there, the once-upon-a-time of stable stapels--the "A-B-C's" of product stocking--are in a state of flux.

“I don’t understand your post. Could you explain it please?”

There’s a typo. (I freep on a handheld, so I think I do OK.)

It should have been:

As noted by other posters, mocking Christians is passe.

If they [the gays] had ANY balls, at all, they would do a photospread of someone sodomizing Mohammed with a bomb on his head.

But they’re CHICKEN. Bock-bock-Bock.

Also listed as an organizer is the execrable “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence”. But there’s nothing anti-Christian or anti-Catholic going on... What would give anybody that idea?

It’s not enough for them to “remove their logo” from the Christ-as-a-homsexual-sadomasochist ad. Miller should remove their money from thr Folsom Street Festival-— the whole contaminated, foul-smelling, infected thing.

Let’s tell them so. These Miller’s Beer e-mail address should be of interest:

Leinie’s isn’t brewed by Miller. Not even by contract as is the case with Pabst. Separate brewery altogether.

sbMike-I believe that Leine is OWNED by Miller. They keep it pretty quiet, but when Miller was sponsoring the illegal immagrant rally in Chicago I did some reseach and found a site that listed the brands owned by Miller, and Leine was one of them.

Well I’ll be - I guess I made the assumption based on the fact that they maintain separate brewing facilities and the family still appears to control most if not all aspects of the brewery. All are good folks and have very good reputations among the people who I know that have worked with them locally.

Meet The Leinenkugel Brothers - Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

” In 1988, Leinenkugel Brewing merged with Miller Brewing Co., but the family retains control of brewery operations for Leinie. Jake and his brothers - Dick, 48, vice president of sales and marketing, and John, 37, a sales representative - are the fifth generation of Leinenkugels to run the brewery since it opened in 1867.”
