They're the strong and the proud, but the Marines aren't free to stand on the streets of San Francisco.

The Silent Drill Platoon of the U.S. Marine Corps wasn't allowed to be filmed Sept. 11 on California Street in San Francisco for a segment of its new advertising campaign, a Marine spokesman told FOXNews.com.

Instead, the elite group took its austere display to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area for the final segment of its "America's Marines" TV commercial. The group is on a two-month nationwide tour as part of the campaign.

If we (the US) were ever invaded by a hostile army (excluding the present Mexican invasion), I say we cede S.F. to the enemy, but fight them everywhere else.

Defund San Francisco for this and 1000 other slights to our military. No more federal funds for these traitors!

In - effing - credible! Why is San Francisco still a part of the United States? We’d get a two-fer: no more San Fran nuttiness and no more San Fran Nan as her district would cease to exist!

Coyote told KGO-TV that "traffic control was the issue."

Somehow I get the feeling that they'd shut down the whole city if moveon.org wanted to film an ad there.

Yeah, there’s probably some Leftist in city government behind the decision...but just maybe trying to film on a Tuesday on the busiest street in a very traffic-congested city wasn’t the wisest request, either. Had the Marines chosen to film on the previous Sunday, there might not have been any reasonable way for the city to say no.

Someone in congress needs to raise hell about this and put her on the spot.

Oh they couldn’t have cared less about ‘traffic’. They only cared about snubbing those civilian/baby killers, the US Marine Corps, donchaknow.

I know that city well. Despicable.

Stefanie Coyote, the executive director of the San Francisco Film Commission, the group that denied the permit, was unavailable for comment Tuesday. Her office referred calls to San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom's press office, which did not immediately return a request for comment.

Well, this Stephanie Coyote gal was the one who made the stupid decision. Now that she's called the thunder down upon herself, she's trying to deflect all the incoming blasts toward Newsome, who I'm sure is very appreciative of her for doing so.

Really? I missed it then, but I’m not a Savage listener since I just can’t take his diatribes.

a department of the city and the county of SanFran...SF Environment is a stated supporting sponsor of Folsom Fair. Streets will be closed down and police support given. All at the expense of the city.
Yet the Marines cant film there? The Blue Angels not allowed to fly there.

Something is definitely wrong with this picture.
From a press release regarding Folsom Fair and their use of the Last Supper mockery:
Folsom Street Events acknowledges that many of the people in the leather and fetish communities are spiritual and that this poster image is a way of expressing that side of the community’s interests and beliefs. This year, Folsom Street Fair is dedicated to “San Francisco Values,” previously used against the San Francisco community for its support of sexual diversity and now used by Folsom Street Events as a way to reclaim power by the fetish community.

Yeah ...San Francisco Values....we get it.
there are no values.

It’d be pretty easy to find out what else has been allowed to be filmed recently in the city.

She's saying traffic control was the issue?! With the Critical Mass asshats intentionally gumming up traffic in the City for miles, what, once a month? Suuuure, we're not biased at all here, are we?

It's a traffic control issue.

Right.

Time long past for the US Military to declare SF an “Open City”.

Are we sure the filming wasn’t going to get in the way of their Gay pride Parade?
