since there would have been no United States, you wouldn’t have had either; who would have been the hegemon, Hitler or Stalin, or would they have just carved it up between them?

If it wasn’t for Lincoln, North America would have been the plaything and political football for Europe. Despite the delusions of Confederate thought, we were one people and had to stand united in the midst of a hostile and dangerous world.

Let me rephrase before this goes too much further:

If Lincoln had not succeeded in the CW, the door would not have been open for FDR to come along and take us further down the socialist hole of government dependency for everything.
