Lincoln was one of the sorriest Presidents in American History. (If not the sorriest).

oh, boy, are you going to get the Civil War fringe going with that observation.

I have long held, w/o Lincoln, there would have been no Roosevelt (FDR, not Teddy).

I think Lincoln was a good man who had to make hard choices for a good cause, the cause being the survival of the free government bequeathed by the Founders.

I think Jefferson Davis was a good man who had to make hard choices for a bad cause, the cause being the thoughtless destruction of free government bequeathed by the Founders, a destruction undertaken for the political and economic benefit of a narrow class of slaveowners.

Ah, yes, Never fails that a few people will disparage Lincoln on this board.

I suppose it makes sense. A man that kept the country together and led to the end of slavery inspired enough hate for his actions that he was murdered. That kind of passion just doesn’t die no matter how much time passes. Pitiful, but a reality.

No matter.

The good that was his legacy is greater then any shadows of hate or dislike that try to chase him to this day. And, yes, he is my FAVORITE President and the one I respect most. Washington being my close second.

Oh, and Sally Fields and Spielberg making a movie about Lincoln? They really ought to stick to concepts they understand. I’ll be shocked if they somehow tumble upon a correct telling of that man and time in history.

Let's count the ways this one is doomed:

One of? Honestly which one was worse? Granted I’ll give you Wilson for getting us involved in affairs that were none of our business, and FDR for his worthless programs that Republican ‘conservatives’ look to save in some fashion just 70 years later (which says more about ‘conservatives’ than FDR). But at least they didn’t attack another nation to fund internal improvement schemes.

You obviously don't consider Jeff Davis a president in American History. There's hope for you yet.
