White House sued the state of Illinois

The White House sued the state of Illinois yesterday, in an attempt to unblock the state's law that bars employers from verifying the immigration status of their employees.

This is the first move by the Bush adminsitration to halt the stalling of the new 'no-match letters' immigration crckdown by states and judges, reports the New York Times.

Illinois' barred use of the federal database, previously called Basic Pilot and now called E-Verify, on the grounds that they did not want to risk using a system that might be flawed. Illinois said it would allow employers to use E-Verify once Washington could confirm its results are 99% accurate.

Corruption is rampant in Illinois. For many decades, Social Security Numbers/Cards have been for sale by political patronage workers in the SS offices. Not only have these been for sale, first to illegals from Eastern Europe, then later to illegals from other places, they have also been for sale to those trying to establish a new identity as a way to avoid child support and other debts, and to avoid criminal charges. One wonders if the IL political pressure is really about the illegals? Or is it about the political machine not wanting its corruption to be exposed with US Atty Patrick Fitzgerald sending dozens more to join the near 100 he has convicted so far of political corruption.

YAY! And I’ll bet you’re right on. I’ve only been here 3 years, but I’ve never seen such a controlling, big brother machine as Chicago in my life: union, political (rat), good old boy network .. NEVER! It’s unbelievable. But it is a gorgeous, clean, remarkable city.

Am I too cynical? Back in the 60s and 70s I knew too many Eastern Europeans who bought SS card, Drivers License and Voters card from Cong Rostenkowski’s patronage workers in the SS office. (Allegedly civil service. But only the ranking member of the committee that controlled the SS knew when and where the civil service test was being given ... in the 32d ward office, of course.)

I continue to hear illegals tell each other how they can still buy SS cards that are “real” cards.

Illinois is corrupt, but the corruption in Chicago and Cook County (two entirely different political machines, but both staunchly Democrat) is utterly mind-boggling. The Cook County president, who was up for re-election, suffered a stroke that left him paralyzed and for all intents and purposes comatose. But, miracle of miracles, he recovered just enough to wake up, sign a document naming his incompetent son as his replacement, and as soon as he laid down the pen he lapsed back in to paralysis and coma. No independent or impartial witnesses, of course. The son, of course, then won the election, and immediately proceeded to name other relatives to high-paying positions in his administration. The graft and corruption are so blatant it’s breathtaking.

Stroger ... and he’s very interested in raising the sales tax. I swear .. there’s going to be an air consumption tax soon for breathing while walking on the sidewalks. It’s such an entangled mob of corruption... will anyone ever take it down? And would the city function as well without it?

O.K. what’s the catch? Did they finally figure out they will vote Democrat?

“... union, political (rat), good old boy network ...”

And 1/2 of the politicians are ministers and 1/2 of the ministers are politicians.

The border states should begin transporting all illegal aliens to these sanctuary states that welcome illegals. Why should we pay for educating, medicating and incarcerating them when NJ, NY, IL, etc. are willing to roll out the red carpet for them?

99% accuracy in a software database of this magnitude is impossible!

99% accuracy in any government list or program or pretty much anything is impossible. The Feds should respond that Illinois votes will count in a Federal election when Illinois can guarantee that their voting rolls are 99% accurate.

Many votes in Illinois are inaccurate. Do you think anyone bothers to find out the truth? No. It’s outrageous that they would be so moralistic while they clearly don’t practice what they preach.

This prolly made little Lisa Madigan run to daddy...
"What do I do daddy, what do I do? The mean republicans in Washington are suing me."

She has to be the most unqualified State Attorney General in history. And if her daddy wasn't who and what he is, she'd be a Law File Clerk for some tree hugger Ambulance Chaser.

“This is the first move by the Bush adminsitration to halt the stalling of the new ‘no-match letters’ immigration crckdown by states and judges”

Wow...Bush is sure going out of his way on this, especially when he’s already ADMITTED that there is NO WAY TO ENFORCE his ‘no-match letters’ plan. (SSA is NOT going to share employer information with DHS, therefore, DHS has NO way of knowing which employers should be prosecuted)

Wonder how much this ‘dog and pony’ show is costing taxpayers?

re “ NO WAY TO ENFORCE his ‘no-match letters’ plan”

You mis-understand the nature and intent of the Bush program. It is totally voluntary on the part of the employers whether they want to use this database check or not. Other programs may or may not be focused on enforcement. But not this voluntary program. This program is for GOOD employers who want to know who their prospective hires really are.

IL Dems hate any program that is voluntary.

Don’t under-estimate Lisa. She was not born to do this. She was adopted after her political skills were known. Both sides of the political marriage of her mom and step-dad did their due diligence.

“The Cook County president...”

A couple of weeks ago, I did a spot on “Chicago Tonight,” a local PBS news program. Todd (in person he looks like Erkell from ABC) Stroger came in with two sheriff’s police (his torpedoes) and one coat holder and Dick Devine (pornstar name, fer sure), the States Attorney came in with his school marm assistant.

The three of us sat around a big oak table in the “Green Room” and discussed Harry Potter before we went on.

I was bizarre, to say the least.
