For the small band of reporters who regularly cover Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign, the dirty little secret is this: They rarely -- if ever -- get to speak to the candidate herself.
Clinton, D-N.Y., is running perhaps the most media-controlled -- and media-obsessed -- campaign in presidential history. Her aides carefully screen access to the candidate, generally avoid news conferences on the campaign trail and have been known to throw around the Clintons' considerable weight to block negative stories and influence coverage of the candidate they're protecting and promoting.
Ari Fleischer, a former press secretary to President Bush during his 2000 campaign and first years in the White House, said the Clinton campaign has taken a hallmark of the Bush White House -- carefully controlled media access -- to another level.
"Hillary is no Bill when it comes to discipline -- she has some," Fleischer said. "But it's more than just discipline." During his 2000 run, "George Bush did press [availabilities] just about every day, and he was always disciplined.
"Hillary is also disciplined," Fleischer continued, "but she keeps her distance from the press probably because she doesn't like them." "She sees all downside in access. As a front-runner with a 20-point margin, the press can hurt her more than help her."
A Window Into the Clinton Campaign
The latest episode to emerge, reported Monday by Politico, offers a window into how the campaign uses perhaps its biggest asset -- former President Bill Clinton -- to protect Sen. Clinton's reputation.

Anyone ever notice that the only time the Clinton's and Liberals ever really use military lingo is when it comes to political advantage. "Take-No-Prisoners, the War Room, I'll Fight for the rights of________, etc., etc.

This is all about who is going to be the Republican candidate anyway. The "press" wants Rudy...just like they wanted McRinocain. I'm voting for the conservative and the "litmus" test for me is the 2nd Amendment. Cause if you trust the populace with weapons, your not likely to screw around with the other freedoms. Rudy flunks, sorry. Mitt had to place his lips on the anti-gunners well fleshed porcine rumps...sorry. I'll wait to see if Fred or Gingrich will run or just float around.
What a surprise - Her Heinous has to very carefully control her image. We'll see how far cankles and cackles take her....
It’s how the Hildebeast got elected to the Senate twice — she did nothing but extremely controlled events and allowed virtually no spontaneous press access at all. If it had been a Republican the NY enemedia would have been screaming and would have made the person unelectable, but instead they protected and coddled the beast. So much for the “tough New York media”......
...?!?why is ABC writing this? They have already signed up to help Hillary carry out this strategy.

Absolutely. When it comes to grabbing political power and using it to attack other Americans (like "the rich" and "big business") their language is quite violent. But when it comes to terrorists, it's all about "dialog" and "understanding" and "cum by ah."
A single unscripted moment will drive her nuts. She cannot tolerate surprise. Someone should be waiting with a camcorder when she flips out.
Also, remember her comments about Fox? Now that there is fox News, I cannot get my message out, or something to that effect.
If she gets to be president, the statue of Josef Stalin will grow a cold bronze smile.
My guess is that she’s probably shut out one of the ABC News reporters.
This paranoia is classically Clintonesque.

It's funny how the Left attack the Bush administration for being so secretive, propaganda-filled and not working with the free press while their star Hillary makes him look like a rank amateur.
Next time you are in a meeting and one of your colleagues is wearing pink (either a man in a pink button down shirt or a woman in a pink blouse), take note of how they never get their point across, people interrupt them, and they never get the upper hand.
But no matter what she wears, Hillary just looks like a clown.
