GOP SPLIT ON GOV'S DRIVE RULE
September 25, 2007 -- ALBANY - The state's top Republican leadership unexpectedly split yesterday on the controversial move by Democratic Gov. Spitzer to allow the granting of driver's licenses to illegal aliens. State GOP Chairman Joseph Mondello ripped Spitzer for eliminating the requirement that people provide a Social Security number for a driver's license...
But Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno backed Spitzer, saying, "We have hundreds of thousands of aliens here, and I'm not sure it serves the public good to deprive them of their ability to go to school, to go to work, to do the kinds of things you have to do to lead a normal life."

I think that the official excuse is that if illegals have a driver's license, and have a car with license plates, then by law they also have to have insurance. This will allegedly protect innocent Americans from becoming victims of illegal's illegal car driving activity.......
...if that makes any sense.

if only this were true, but it will not happen. illegal means being illegal and if an illegal can be illegal in more ways than one, most will take the illegal way. It is the way of the illegal, and their spawn. Most illegals want no part of being legal.

You mean if I got in my car and drove down to your fair country, I could get me a U.S. driver’s license?
Kewl!
I could use that doc up here to get tax refunds on my purchases.
Double kewl!

as more illegals are pushed out of the U.S., there will be more illegals to pay for in Canada. There goes your tax cut.

“can someone explain?”
Yes. It’s harder to vote without a government issued photo ID.

Why don’t the people of NY bring a suit or RICO act against the Gov and Congress for aiding and abetting the enemy?

Bruno is 80 years old and confronting senility. He’s like Rather and Barbara walters and so many 78+ year olds, they simply cannot retire and move on, they cannot confront old age.

Yes, for the same reason you can enroll your kid in a public school with any kind of birth certificate and proof of place of residency at all: they want these people “in the system.”

Sure, you may as well do it. Take what you can get as long as the taking is there because it may all come to a stop soon, along with both countries.
To: durasell
Paper trails are worthless, in most cases. A couple of Examples: Hillary and Bill. And the laws continue to be broken.

I'm not sure it serves the public good to deprive them of their ability to go to school, to go to work, to do the kinds of things you have to do to lead a normal life.We can't have unlicensed drivers driving car bombs. That would be unsafe.
