You can only have peace when one party wins and the other party loses.

What is one to make of the jet’s return flight? A warning to Turkey?

"What is one to make of the jets return flight? A warning to Turkey?" We don't know what went on...could have been US B-2 bombers that did the deed.
Afterall, reports of the F-15 drop tanks found by Turkey say they don't look 'dropped', lol. (Maybe they were planted?)

"The alleged September 6 air strike on a Syrian facility has destroyed any chances for peace between Syria and Israel, senior Syrian officials said Monday."
Diplomatic translation: "The alleged September 6 air strike on a Syrian facility has destroyed any."..chance...for Syria to think it had the means to blackmail Israel into accepting Syrian demands for..."peace between Syria and Israel"; for now. (Of course, the Syrians hope the lack of those means is only temporary).

What I make of it is that they didn’t want to come out the same way they went in.

September 6 air strike on a Syrian facility has destroyed any chances for peace between Syria and Israel, senior Syrian officials said Monday. That speaks volumes about the Syrian vision of "peace".
To: SmithL
I bet the Israeli’s are off Syrians’ Ramadahn card list, too.

No, the Turkish military gave the IAF permission to overfly Turkish territory during the strike, neglecting to inform the country’s Islamic government that it had done so. Nice!

Au contraire mi amigo.... the new course is peace through war. We win, you lose, peace results.

That’s my take, too. The Israelis are masters of planting confusion amongst their opponents.

"Thats my take, too. The Israelis are masters of planting confusion amongst their opponents." An assistant to Bibi says he knows what happened and we'll all be stunned when we find out.

IAF strike ruined chances for peace...exactly backwards IMHO. the strike was well executed and most likely will make Ahmanutjob and best butt buddy Assad rethink their plans for the sequel 'Lebanon Summer 2006 - Part Deux'
