Do you have a bias? Clearly you should understand the reality of the situation (not this clowns paper-thin propaganda)
I have some understanding of what is going on there today as well. It is not a matter of Bollinger speaking the truth, but rather, whether his gratuitous insults helped or hurt Ahmadinejad.
That was my point - just because the truth hurts, does not mean it is an insult. In this country we are free to call feces feces (so to speak) - unlike in Iran. Bollinger spoke the cold harsh truth - Ahmadinejad spewed comical propaganda. It is not free speech if we are forced to "spin nice"

Wait a minute - if it is the truth, it is not a "gratuitous" insult" - you can't have it both ways. Your wording makes you sound like an Ahmadinejad cheerleader. Speaking the truth is not an insult. Did you want Bollinger to lie and claim this clown is "man of peace and freedom" - just to make nice???
It made him a sympathetic figure for some.
Maybe you feel that way and maybe hate-America-firsters will agree - but I doubt many others will agree with you. His comical propaganda trumps the "truth is an insult" angle.
The only thing that hurts the Persian Pimp in America is his tacit admission that Iran has tried to purge homosexuals.
In the Middle East the Persian Pimp wins, the applause track will be played ad infinitum and the islamonuts will once again be reassured that they can kill Americans with impunity from many Americans.
My "bias" is that the only way we are going to win the WOT is regime change in Iran. Ahmadinejad is just a figurehead. The country is run by the Assembly of Experts and Supreme Leader Grand Ayatollah Ali Khamenei who succeeded Khomeini. We [read Carter] made a major mistake in greasing the way for the Shah's removal.

I have no problem with the truth. I just believe it was counterproductive given the cirmcumstances. It just compounded the mistake of inviting him in the first place.

You need to look up the word gratuitous. The insults were not necessary except for Bollinger to cover his butt and not turn off alumni contributions and government grants.

There were plenty of hate-America-firsters in the audience and elsewhere, e.g, the recent ANSWER sponsored anti-war demonstrations in DC. As I mentioned, the only real gaff that Ahmadinejad made was his remark about homosexuals. Hopefully, that will prove to be the focus of the MSM.
