The following is a letter written by Mitt Romney to the Washington Establishment. It is without a doubt one of the boldest statements made by a presidential candidate. As a Republican he says it exactly right. You may not support him, but if you are a true conservative you are going to agree with him. Many conservatives have already seen this letter and are taking it to heart.
Romney has been praised by many conservatives for taking this strong step toward getting our nation back on track. Richard A. Viguerie, author of Conservatives Betrayed: How George W. Bush and Other Big-Government Republicans Hijacked the Conservative Cause (Bonus Books, 2006), had this to say about Romneys stance:
At last, a top-tier presidential candidate is paying attention to the discouraged, disheartened, and disillusioned base of the Republican Party. I commend Mitt Romney for urging the GOP leadership to return to its conservative values.By releasing an ad chastising the Republican leadership for its excessive spending, immigration amnesty, and ethical slackness, Governor Romney has taken a small but significant step toward reclaiming the GOP for the grassroots conservatives who are its backbone.
I hope you will read Governor Romney's Letter and Watch the ad in its entirety.

Thank you, MHG, for providing a good example of valid opposition to the LDS Church.
I do protest to your attempt to poison the well by stating “Let you Apologists address this issue with guile from Satan.” But, you have fairly summarized our beliefs.
We believe that we are children of God. Literally. Not figuratively. And, as children do, we will one day mature; and, if we have lived a life worthy of the honor, we will receive an inheritance with Him - we will receive “all that He hath.” This is the purpose of life - to be tested to see if we are will obey God and be worthy of His highest gifts.
Those highest gifts mean being endowed with the characteristics of divinity. That means, eventually, creating spiritual children of our own who will one day be in the same condition in which we find ourselves now.
I fully recognize that this doctrine flies in the face of what is taught by mainstream Christianity. There are a number of very good reasons why it does. But disagreement is not proof; opinion is not evidence. You cite a number of Biblical verses. We simply disagree as to their interpretation. Our interpretation is informed by what we believe to be additional revelation and clarification given by God in modern times through contemporary prophets beginning with Joseph Smith.
You call this point of view heresy. Christ was also considered a heretic, so I’m not overly concerned with the label. I’m much more concerned with the pursuit of truth; and I believe this, after much study and prayer, to be a true doctrine. Though I would welcome it if you did, whether you choose to accept this view or not ultimately does not impact me. Worship as you see fit; I will do the same.
Instead of trying to comment on the Church you should frist learn from the LDS about their doctrine.

GOOD GRIEF!
that was CanaGuy in post #5 that made that ridiculous assertion - and if you want to scroll down through and catch my many posts to this misinformed ahh, person, you will see you have done me a great disservice.
I'll take a little nap meantime - and I think you probably just made a mistake - don't we all.
Please give me the post number where I can find these links.
Don’t accuse me of not reading something I have no opportunity to read.
I look at the Democrats and see how they cover for all their constituencies, no matter how indefensible they are. Every voter block gets careful consideration. Then I look at the Conservatives and find a few who are filled with hate for people they don’t understand. Worse than that, I think they are stupid to offend a constituency that supports the conservative cause. Are the conservatives so confident in the next election that they can afford to piss off some 10 million voters?
Most of these web sites I see on FR trying to classify Mormons as a cult are virulent anti-Mormon sites. Here are two rules you should apply in these cases. 1) DO NOT go to someone’s enemy to learn anything about them. And 2) DO NOT compare the worst of one religion with the best of another. If you violate those rules, you are nothing more than a bigot.
Because I find it hard to believe a conservative is actually so stupid, I am very suspicious that these hate-Mormon posts are actually from Democrats trying to promote discord among the conservatives.
Clearly, 'giveth' refers to sexuality, thus when Luke and Paul and Matthew and Mark refer to this 'giving in marriage' they are referring not to a ceremonial ritual but to the sexual intimacy of marriage which is precisely what Jesus instructed would not be a part of the resurrection or Heaven! To teach otherwise in order to institute plural marriage is heresy. To teach that there will be 'creating of spirit children by those married who were sealed in Mormon temples on earth' is teaching heresy.
You are working with a half of loaf and then find fault with Lord’s doctrine becasue you don’t under that Marriage and angles will I gave you a link which will enlighted you of the Church position.
The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter day Saints is or is not be a cult depending on how you define “is”, but anyone who can find glory in the fall of man as stated in the book of Mormon (2 Nephi 2:2225) I certainly can not agree with their views of a Holy God.
That said I might still vote for an LDS candidate because of his/her political beliefs. I’m not sure the best Christian would make the best president.
And now, behold, if Adam had not transgressed he would not have fallen [been cut off from the presence of God], but he would have remained in the Garden of Eden. And all things which were created must have remained in the same state in which they were after they were created;
And they would have had no children; wherefore they would have remained in a state of innocence, having no joy, for they knew no misery; doing no good, for they knew no sin.
But behold, all things have been done in the wisdom of him who knoweth all things.
Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy (2 Nephi 2:2225).
Republicans spent too much. But it’s not like Democrats were trying to hold them back. Republicans joined Democrats in spending too much. Romney is saying that’s not the Republican way.
President Bush sought comprehensive immigration reform, to include amnesty. That’s a fact that cannot be denied. But he received the bulk of his support from Democrats. Most of the resistance came from conservative Republicans. Romney is claiming a secure border as a Republican position. Good for him.
When it comes to ethical standards, I would like to see Republicans take the gloves off and go for the K.O. Democrats are the party of Congressman Studds (affairs with male pages), Bill Clinton (affair with female page, sexual harassment of female employees,) Congressman Barney Frank (a pain in the rear), Ted Kennedy, and others. Between Studds and Franks alone, they’ve earned the title of being the “pervert party.” Their acceptance of adultery and sexual harassment is (should be) shameful.
Democrats have a double standard on sexual misbehavior. It’s fine for Democrats but wrong for Republicans. That is hypocrisy.
Mitt can’t go into all that in a short add. But if he was saying that sexual misbehavior is “acting like Democrats,” I think he is very shrewd.
Mark 12:25 [Jesus speaking ...] "For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven."
Luke 17:27 [Jesus speaking and referring to marrying AND giving in marriage ...] "They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all."
Luke 20:34 And Jesus answering said unto them, "The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:"
ICor chapter 7, Paul teaches about sexual matters, thus when he refers to given in marriage he is referring to the sexual nature of the marriage covenant. Jesus teaches that this nature of sexuality/reproductive outcome will not be a part of the resurrection/Heaven. Mormonism contradicts the teaching of Jesus and the Holy Spirit as revealed through Paul. Mormonism is a heresy laden religion seeking to pawn itself off as restored Christianity.
“Judge Roberrt Bork called the illegal imposition of homosexual “marriage” in Massachusetts “completely untethered from the state or federal constitutions and from the rule of law.
An educated, well versed man that SHOULD have been on the Supreme court long ago.
He’s not the dictator of Massachusetts either.
No, he's not. Four black-robed judicial oligarchs are. Because Mitt Romney was too liberal and too weak to oppose them. He abrogated his sworn oath in subservience to their lawless edict.
“Because Mitt Romney was too liberal and too weak to oppose them. He abrogated his sworn oath in subservience to their lawless edict.”
Ok I’ll give ya that much, what would you have had him do WITHIN THE LAW instead?
Nothing. Nothing at all.
And there isn’t a thing the SJC could have done about it.
I looked @ the article you referenced and you've read into it something that's not there. The pope only asserted lack of ecclesiastical authority; not heresy. So the pope would also conclude that the LDS church lacks ecclesiastical authority; while the LDS church concludes that the Catholic church (& all others) lack ecclesiastic authority. (Now do those contradictory claims cancel each of them out?)
So since the Pope and the LDS Church prophet both pretend to replace the true Head of the Church, Jesus Christ, they both speak falsely as usurpers in this area. The apostle Paul said Christ is the Head of the Church (Eph 4:14; 5:23). (There is no other Head) Jesus Himself called it "my Church" (Matt. 16:18). It ain't the Pope's church and it's not the LDS prophet's church. And you can't get it any plainer than this: "All authority on heaven and earth has been given unto me." (Matt. 28:18)
Now what part of "all" do you have a problem with Jesus claiming?
Well there was that Reagan guy who called the MoTab America's choir.
"Ronald Reagan truly admired the Latter-day Saints. His administration included more members of the Church than any other American president, ever. Three of us, David Fischer, Gregory Newell and I, served on his personal White House staff. Richard Wirthlin was his chief strategist. Ted Bell served as Secretary of Education, Angela Buchanan was Treasurer, Rex Lee was Solicitor General. His White House included Roger Porter, Brent Scowcroft, Richard Beal, Blake Parish, Jon Huntsman Jr., Dodie Borup and Rocky Kuonen, and there were many other Latter-day Saints throughout his Administration. President Thomas S. Monson served on a Presidential Commission on Volunteerism. Others were ambassadors. LDS senators and representatives were held in special regard, and the Tabernacle Choir was his special inaugural guest." -Stephen M. Studdert, Special Assistant to President Reagan
Bay Buchanan is Pat's sister. Then there is that Glen Beck guy.
That's what happens when I post hastily before reading down the thread. Sorry
