President Nicholas Murray Butler of Columbia University has refused to interfere in the Casa Italianas' program of lecture discussions on contemporary Italy, it was learned yesterday, from a letter he wrote to Luigi Criscuolo, President of the Italian Constitutional Alliance, an anti-Fascist group.
Criscuolo had written to Professor Butler protesting that all the lecturers were in sympathy with the Fascist Government of Italy. He had asked that some anti-Fascisti be allowed to speak.
"The University does not permit itself to be used for what it has become fashionable to call propaganda of any kind, nor would it take part in or foment partisan discussion of the internal politics of any State or nation", Butler wrote.

What a two faced lying SOB this guy is. He’s pro facist and a supporter of terrorism. But really, when you think about it, most democrats are.
Mayor Laguardia would vehemently denounce Hitler, particularly if Jews were present, yet would often appear the same day at Italian events where pictures of Mussolini were rampant.
Damn,,
Butler went farther than La Guardia. He actually barred anti-Fascists.
Butler was a Republican. :-\
I think the Columbia U overlords are already deeply regretting their decision. We’re getting some very interesting history lessons regarding Columbia’s track record on this sort of issue.

Of course, compared to old Adolf, Il Duce was frickin’ Santy Claus.
Nevertheless, it goes to show what an opportunist the Little Flower was, very similar to another NY Mayor with a vowel at the end of his name...
My favorite story about La Guardia was that he read the Sunday comics on the radio to the kids listening to show how much he liked children. One Sunday, when the show was over he said, “That should take care of the little b******s.” Unfortunately for him, the mike was still on.
Look at the date, then make an opinion.

My how the university has changed.
Besides, making the trains run on time is no excuse for a dictatorship!!!
Now, providing "free universal healthcare" and "eradicating poverty," apparently that's considered justification for a dictatorship.
