Schwarzenegger to take center stage at UN global warming meeting

WASHINGTON - From the famous podium in the United Nations General Assembly hall, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Monday lands just the sort of global role he relishes - speaking to about 75 world leaders on the urgency of fighting global warming.

Kicking off a week of high-profile events on climate change, the speech will highlight a glaring contrast: that several big-state governors, including Republicans like Schwarzenegger, are pushing aggressive efforts to curb greenhouse gas emissions that go well beyond what President Bush supports.

"This is a big win for the UN - they get a little Hollywood popularity, a lot of attention for this issue - and the governor gets to make a subtle dig at Republicans who are not moving on global warming," said Shaun Bowler, a political analyst at the University of California at Riverside.

European nations may push the United States to match the European Union's plans to curtail tailpipe emissions and other controls, but the Bush administration, which stresses voluntary action and developing clean technology, has been reluctant to do that.

"It's our philosophy that each nation has the sovereign capacity to decide for itself what its own portfolio of policies should be," James Connaughton, chairman of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, said at a briefing Friday when asked about the EU plans.

Schwarzenegger plans to praise Europe's initiatives on tackling greenhouse gases and call for accelerated international action.

California is seeking to enforce its own measures to limit tailpipe emissions, and has forged agreements with several Western states and Canadian provinces. A common goal is to move toward a "cap and trade system" that would allow industries that get under a mandated emissions cap to trade carbon credits to those that don't.

"Schwarzenegger plans to praise Europe's initiatives on tackling greenhouse gases and call for accelerated international action."

The sad thing is Ahhnold, is that Europe has not cut these imaginary "greenhouse gases" one least bit. In fact they've produced more than ever. If you add all the pollution from Muslim Youts burning cars in France, they pollute worse than a turd world country like India. The USA, despite all the crying by leftist moonbat enviro-wacko's, has done a better job without any stupid carbon credit plan of reducing emissions than any other country on the planet. In fact, if we would smarten up and quit letting these moonbats hamper our potential, we could replace every coal and gas fired electric plant in the nation with clean quiet nuclear energy in 20 years. Oh wait, that makes to much sense and doesn't rob American taxpayers blind, nor transfer the wealth of the nation to one world government elite marxists.

So Germany, Japan and Canada are three of the biggest proponents of the Global Climate Crisis. They are constantly bashing the U.S. for its love affair with the gas guzzling CO2 emitting car. So, which three countries probably export the highest numbers of gas guzzling CO2 emitting car to the U.S.? Why don’t these countries voluntarily cutback on the gas guzzling CO2 emitting cars sold in the U.S.? Yes, I know about hybrids, etc....but until you really move the ball on the models of Lexus, M-B, BMW, SUVs (of all makes), etc...it doesn't’t make a whole lot of difference.

“Schwarzenegger plans to praise Europe’s initiatives on tackling greenhouse gases...”

Citizens in Great Britain may soon be hit by a blitz of top secret green taxes to combat the socialist bogeyman called global warming, reports the Daily Mail.

Under this proposal, the government would grab billions of pounds of extra revenue by not telling motorists when gas prices go down. So everytime petro prices drop, the tax on petro would automatically rise. So rather than drivers seeing that extra savings in their pocket, the government would keep the price high and grab the extra money for itself.

Then there’s talk of raising the annual road tax from a maximum of £210 to £5,000 in order to “combat car use and ownership.”

And a “pay per mile” tax could be added.

Next, Brits could see a washing machine tax, a dishwasher tax, a dryer tax, a lightbulb tax and an air travel tax.

Finally, the Tories plan to install “spies” in dustbins to impose a “rubbish tax” on households that throw away non-recyclable refuse.

The grand total of new taxes for a family of four would be an additional £1,163 per year.

I certainly hope that a conservative Republican runs against the Austrian in the 2010, California, Republican, senatorial primary. Be it Micky Mouse, Goldy Locks or Senator McClintock, we need to get out the vote for the conservative and get this European mongrel the hell off the 2010 CAGOP ticket and out Republican politics in California.
