Little Iraqi girl dies after returning home from Poland
Friday, September 21. 2007
The little Iraqi girl Jannat, who recently underwent a successful heart surgery in Wrocław is dead, the girls grandfather informed Polish soldiers in Iraq.
The information about the girls death was received by lieutenant Artur Pinkowski, spokesman of the 11th Lubuskie Armoured Cavalry Division in Zagan, part of the coalition forces mission in Iraq.
The grandfather called us and said that the girl is dead. According to him, the girl suffocated at night because of some failure, said Pinkowski. He added that Polish soldiers in Iraq will try to confirm this information. Allegedly no-one in Baghdad was able to give her proper aid.
We all feel sorry for her because we got very involved in her treatment, said the spokesman.
It were the soldiers of the Lubuskie Armoured Cavalry Division in Zagan that made Jannats treatment in Poland possible. The army organized transport, while the by-pass operation was funded with donations.
Just two days ago, Jannat returned with her father and grandfather by military transport to Baghdad. In a couple of years she was to undergo another medical procedure in Poland.
Until the very last moment of Jannats stay in Poland, the girls grandfather, was considering applying for refugee status for the family. Eventually, however, they decided to go back to Baghdad.
Tragic. She was very cute too. Anyways she is in heaven now. Prayers for those she left behind
Aw, I am SO sorry to hear this!
May she rest in the arms of the Lord, as He comforts the family & friends left behind....
I suggest that the next person who says the typical armcahir general talking head “turn the middle east into a glass parking lot” should have a look at that little girl or any child over there and re-think their opinion... why punish children like this girl for things that adults are doing...
damn shame that child did not make it...
Poor little girl. RIP.
Heartbreaking. Bless her sweet little innocent soul. May she now be in the arms of our Lord.
So very sad, for the grieving family and all those who worked so hard to make her better...
