PARIS (AFP) — France and the United States share a common view on the security threats facing the two countries, the interior minister said Friday after meeting FBI director Robert Mueller.

"We share the same analysis, based on the fact that today there is truly no border between internal security and external security," said Interior Minister Michele Alliot-Marie.

Mueller, the head of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, also met with Justice Minister Rachida Dati and officials from the new domestic intelligence agency during his two-day visit to Paris.

He said the decision announced last week to merge the DST counter-intelligence service with the RG police intelligence unit would help strengthen bilateral cooperation with France.

Alliot-Marie said the two countries have to grapple with a certain number of issues that are "vital for the lives of our citizens, including terrorism which is a permanent threat to our countries and for our nationals living abroad, but also trafficking, in particular of drugs."

Of course, notice still gov’ts fail to use the words “Muslim Extremism” instead opting for the weaker and homogenous term “terrorism.”

If you don’t have the stones to name your enemy, how can you possibly find the courage to take them on?

I agree,

They always do their own thing and DeGaule summed up France well with his statement of national interests. However, we “share” the same national interests except in a few minor areas.

It is good to see the era of irresponsible Chirac/Schroeder over, a time when Western nations sitting in the same boat with us were playing against us for political gain internally. An era when the West after numerous horrible attacks not only in the US was divided because of certain politicians and parties who were looking after their own personal gains is over.

It was utterly disgusting to see how after 911 you had political leaders distancing themselves from the US when things became ugly, to see them schmooze with the left base in their own country, to even declare the GWOT a figment of George Bush’s imagination while not in those words, all awhile they do all they can to deal with the Islamic threat within their own boarders. Sickening-
