I don’t think the other Republican candidates are going to cut him a break on this statement. If even someone like me, a seasoned citizen retired lady knows that he can’t bar Ahmanutjob fromn the U.N., Fred should know it.

Couldn't the President just block him from "entering" the United States? (Not from going to the UN, but from physically entering the United States via an airport, for example?)

He technically can, as he has to enter the US first, and he CAN keep him from entering the US via an airport.

Not quite true. Mitt Romney already said that he'd have Ahmadinejad handed a warrant for his arrest, for genocide, under the Geneva Conventions, if he were President and Ahmadinajad set foot on US soil. Also, the State Department could certainly refuse to issue a visa to a dangerous terrorist such as Ahmadickinawad.

He can certainly be barred from travel anywhere but to and from the airport and the U.N.

If the other republicans attack him for stating we shouldn’t let him in the country, they’ll be savaged by the base. You can debate law all you want, I’m pretty confident conservatives aren’t going to see this as a negative either way. Other then Ron Paul, I doubt any Republicans running are that foolish.

Although, The State Department is connected to the Executive Branch. They (meaning Bush) can deny him entrance. It’s been done before.
