I don’t think New Yorkers will allow this to happen. There’s probably going to be a riot of epic proportions.

One would hope the locals would come out in force.

It would sort of be like a “victory lap” for muslims around the world with ‘Nutjob standing around Ground Zero like Mussolini up on the balcony looking around smugly at the crowd as if asking the world “Want some more of this?”

The leader of Iran may have gotten away with pizzing off the free-world without repercussions, but he hasn't had to deal with angry New Yorkers yet!

“There’s probably going to be a riot of epic proportions.”

Sure. Maybe two people with picket signs.

Meanwhile the US govt. will spend a large 6 figures providing protecting for someone who has repeatedly called for the destruction of America.

And we all sleep on.

I work in NYC....you might be surprised at how many go out to support him....after all, most NYC residents think Bush is the Hitler of our times......

The only saving grace might be the construction workers.....although they generally hate Bush.....they aren't about to let this creep step one foot on ground zero....

You mean the same New Yorkers that host the UN, elected Hillary, allowed Rudy to ban nudie bars and ticket jaywalkers, and Bloomberg to ban smoking and trans fats? Yeah, real tough guys, those New Yorkers.

um, this guy was invited to speak at columbia university. what makes you think people will come out in force against him?

people see him as bush's enemy. these same people hate bush. that's all they need to know. there will be indifference to this. people will simply go to work like any other day. some loon driving past ground zero for 5 minutes won't have much effect on the people of manhattan.

it's just infantile politicing and everyday people just don't have the time or inclination to resist such things when it doesn't directly affect them. maybe i'm wrong. i've been wrong before. i hope i am this time.

I think pig entrails would be an appropriate welcome for the nasty little swine.

He’s going to have all of Williamsburg and Crown heights out there ready to lynch him.

An interesting thing could happen if the folks in NYC would just go down to Ground Zero on the day he intends to visit, and surround the site and stand their ground to prevent him from getting close...

I have a sneeking feeling NYPD will not do a thing to disperse the crowd...

Need to get organized quick...

I seriously doubt he’ll make the attempt if he knows there are a few thousand in his way...

Just go...Get in the way...He doesn’t deserve to get close to it...

------ Forwarded Message From: Conference of Presidents Date: Thu, 20 Sep 2007 19:31:07 -0400 To: Conference of Presidents Conversation: Regarding the reported cancellation of Ahmadinejad's appearance at Columbia University Subject: Regarding the reported cancellation of Ahmadinejad's appearance at Columbia University We have just received further clarification that the news reports about the cancellation of Ahmadinejad’s appearance at Columbia University were incorrect, and for now the university intends to go ahead with his appearance. A variety of on-campus events are being planned by campus groups that feel strongly that Ahmadinejad’s appearance should be restricted to members of the campus community. Police will not allow those without Columbia ID into the area.
