That "new description" has been around for almost a hundred years. Communists regularly used the term "progressive" to describe themselves when the word "commie" was too hot to use openly. They were always "in the vanguard of progressive forces struggling against the capitalist oppressor". The buzzword "progressive" was used that way even in this country from the 1920s to the 70s.
But modern Democratics don't even know their own history. They wait until DU and Kos get their daily faxes and conference calls to learn what they are to know that day.
The other problem for lefties is that "democratic" is an adjective, and "democrat" a noun. "Republican" is both a noun and an adjective. You'd think they'd be more aware of the English language, especially after eight years of having to parse every sentence coming out the the mouth of every clintonista.

Whats even more amusing is they have short term memory, and therefore can’t recall just how many times the midget at dailykos or the kooks at moveon.org have been wrong these past seven years, on a wide array of topics.
