Regular readers of this space know that MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski is one of our favorites, serving up heaps of grist for our mill with her regular injections of liberal opinion into her newsreading on "Morning Joe." Here's a recent example.
We'd been searching for an apt nickname for Brzezinski, and as of this morning, Mika herself has supplied one. Meet 'Bubbles' Brzezinski. Mika was reading headlines from the morning's crop of newspapers, when she came across an item from the Boston Globe.
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Boston Globe: "Many colleges ignore SAT writing test." I find this very interesting because SATs were not my strong suit. I probably would never have been allowed to go to college if it was based on just my SAT scores. But apparently hundreds of universities, including several top schools, are ignoring or paying little heed to students' scores on the writing section of the SAT in admission. I never had a writing section, just bubbles.View video here.
WILLIE GEIST: By the time I came around, we had writing.
BRZEZINSKI: Really?
GEIST: Yeah.
BRZEZINSKI: Are you that much younger?
GEIST: Just kidding.
BRZEZINSKI: Thanks a lot, Willie!
In all seriousness, give Mika credit for her self-deprecating candor. How many among us would bare this kind of detail?
Mika Brzezinski: henceforth and forevermore, "Bubbles."
Aside: Mika graduated from Williams, one of the most highly-selective colleges in the country. According to this college admissions website, only 18.8% of applicants are admitted, and even students toward the bottom of the student body average 670 on their SATs. So if, as Mika mentioned, she "probably would never have been allowed to go to college if it was based on just my SAT scores," how did she win admission to Williams?
“Bubbles” Brzezinski ping to Today show list.
One must appreciate her Star Trek-like Vulcan hairdo.
Multiple severe angles with sharp pointy exclamations.
A favorite among leftist urban artistes and feminista managers.
What was she referring to? “No writing, just bubbles.” What does that mean? Any ideas?
Bubbles are the little circles you blacken with your #2 pencil.
Multiple-choice questions, in which you fill in the correct “bubble” with your trusty #2 pencil.
GMTA, right down to the #2 pencil!
These type of tests are commonly referred to as “Bubble” tests since you never write anything you just fill in the appropriate “bubble”.
I’ve taken plenty of those tests, I just never heard them referred to as bubbles before. I guess the terminology is dumbed down for people like Brzezinski.
But I worry about your brain - can't you just feel the rot happening as you watch?
Can't you just feel the brain cells dying, and slipping out your ears?
Oh sure, you say "I can quit anytime", but I wonder if the writing about it makes up for the rot.
I worry, man, I worry.
;->
I hear you. But really, I can quit anytime. I’m just gonna watch this one rerun of Anderson Cooper 360 ;-)
“I probably would never have been allowed to go to college if it was based on just my SAT scores.”
But, because my father was Carter’s National Security Advisor I got all kinds of educational and professional “breaks.”
She’s definitely a babe. So she’s going to be on TV plus she has an IQ even if it’s a liberal one. Hey, her dad gave away Iran and started these effin’ Islamic revolutions so what the heck, She cannot possibly be worse than him
I like those kind of haircuts and they don’y come cheap-— If you want it done right. Anna Wintour Devil Prada kinda hair?
I second those emotions
I don’t want to say bad things about Williams, but the alumni I’ve known fit Dinka’s profile to the T, in that they have not been exceptionally bright or talented, but their parents were.
Mika Brzezinski ..... It takes talent to look so good but say such erroneous things. But that’s TV folks!
I believe that "c" , 1,2 and 3 are correct" was the guess question that year. hahahahaha
.....and yes, I only had "bubbles" no writing on my tests.
Well, duh. Her father.
