Not bad for a liberal. Even he gets Fred, in his own way.

He’s anti-choice (and would overturn Roe v. Wade)
Do the liberals actually believe their own Orwellian propaganda?
Overturning Roe is the true “pro-choice” position, because finally the people, not the court could decide their own laws.
What could be more “pro-choice” than letting each state choose for itself?

he also believes that “America should not have to apologize for anything.”

Guess it was the Iraqis’ fault all along.
Damn right it's their own fault that they weren't able to clean their own house.
And it's also their fault they still can't manage their own security or resolve their own political gridlock.

But that still doesn't mean we turn Iraq over to Al Qaeda and the Iraqis over to slaughter.

The Iranians, Syrians, various Muslim terrorist groups and the Axis of Weasels also deserve to receive more than a little credit for the current situation.

I was just telling my husband yesterday that Thompson has that je ne sais quoi that could get alot of non-conservatives to vote for him in the general.

I think you’re right. Sort of a “Reagan Democrat” effect; perhaps we’ll call it “Fred-o-crats” or “Thompson Democrats” or somesuch...

The thing I note about this article is the way the lib author seems to disparage the original system on which this country was founded.

He puts in quotes “our rights come from God, not the government” and calls Federalism “that mythological system”.

It’s rare I see an article by a lib so out about getting away from the original vision of the framers. I guess that’s what they mean by progressive - they need to “improve” the founder’s vision.

Other than the right to bear children well into one’s 60s and unashamedly express the love of one’s own mama, former Sen. Fred Thompson and I agree on just about nothing.

Uhhh . . . men don't "bear" children. Men sire children.

If anyone is wondering, Versailles is a Cuban-American cafe in Miami.

Federalism has strong appeal across the middle.

So many people of every political persuasion are just sick and tired of Washington telling them how to live their lives.

Hillarycare Strikes Back is the diametric opposition to federalism.

Yep, you heard me, federalism, that mythological system employed — and in many ways invented — by the framers of our Constitution.

If it was invented and employed by the Framers, then it isn't mythological. Anyhow, it is in the Constitution, and it hasn't been changed by Amendment, and the country is suffering from an overbearing and bloated federal government...so what is this guy's complaint?

Like those framers before him, Fred’s a firm believer in “free markets, rights of property and rule of law.” To Thompson, those fathers always knew best, and it’s in all of our best interests to get back to what they knew.

Yet, Thompson also firmly believes “our rights come from God, not government.”

"Yet" implies some kind of contradiction. I don't see any such thing in believing in free markets, property rights and the rule of law - which the Founders knew to be best - and the fact that our rights come from G-d. Of course, this moron seizes on the G-d thing and then goes on for a couple of paragraphs about the history and beliefs of Fred's church...as if anyone cares. We're deciding who should be the President, not the head theocrat. Give me some substance.

Thompson delivered the hard-line status quo roar everyone wanted to hear, and they roared back accordingly — sanctions would remain in place, as, of course, would the embargo; Radio and TV Martí would keep broadcasting; and, should Fidel Castro or his henchmen decide to try another Mariel, “he needs to be told that wouldn’t be a very good idea.” ...

You get the feeling Fred would gladly — and single-handedly — take on the entire regime. And should Hugo Chavez or Evo Morales get any dim ideas, he’d kick their asses too.

Ah, there's some substance - and I like it. Chavez needs his ass kicked. Evo Morales? Send in Fred's mom - she'll kick his ass.

I'm getting the feeling that the libs and Dems are incredibly afraid of Thompson, because they don't understand or agree with his heartfelt convictions, but they know in their hearts that most Americans DO. They're trying to fight the idea that Fred's going to be The Man, that he's going to chop up a bunch of their precious social programs, give back power to the states and people, kick our enemies' asses and nominate originalist replacements for Stevens and Ginsberg. In short, they're facing the end of their political dreams, and they don't like it. TS.

If that where to happen. Missouri legislature would outlaw abortion the in next session...and you can take that to the bank!

Any guy who can use the phrase ‘anti-choice’, without either puking or mocking someone, is a pillow biter.

Yes, he does. And the myth that Rudy could do anything of the sort is laughable. Fred isn’t perfect, but he can keep our coalition together AND bring in Dems on top of it. He’s a landslide candidate.
