I believe this is largely correct. My sister converted to Mormonism and decided to marry another Mormon at the big temple in Salt Lake City. Nobody on our side of the family was allowed to enter the temple and my sister had to have church-appointed surrogates stand in as parents of the bride while ger real mother stood outside, unable to witness the event.

That's creepy. Secrecy is one of the hallmarks of a cult. I thought the LDS were free of it.

There's definitely something amiss when a mother isn't allowed to participate in a daughters wedding.

That is what makes Romney such a sure loser against Hillary.

There will be such a smear run by her camp about his religion, we can’t even imagine.

No, they’re not free from it. Your hunch is correct.

It isn't secrecy. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints holds the Temples and the ordinances there to be sacred. So sacred that even worthy, Temple-attending members are not even supposed to discuss the details amongst themselves outside of the Temple's confines. I'm sorry if you can't understand how people can hold a place or certain things to be so holy, or sacred, that they should be protected from things or activities which would defile them.
