As distasteful as it may be, Gov. “Flip-flop” Romney is heading for the GOP nomination. He has the organization in IA & NH to win, giving him momentum going in to MI and SC. At some point, Dobson will endorse Romney, despite his Mormon religion, probably in dramatic fashion before the SC primary. In the general, he has the best shot against Her Royal Heinous because of his good looks, which will attract women voters.

I don’t think so.

I watched Romney on Fox and Friends the other day because, although he hasn’t caught fire with me, I think he’s a decent guy and I wanted to check him out in this venue.

He comes across as bland. Sorry, but the Fox & Friends people, goofy as they can be, had more personality and presence than Mitt did.

Fred has presence. I like what he says about religion. It is a private matter and nobody agrees with anybody else about it anyway.

I wonder who Dobson thinks he can find to support. Maybe he should just not say anything for a while.

In what alternate universe? He’s started polling in the single digits in many states, an has virtually no support in the South. No south = no GOP nomination.

Its between Thompson and Guiliani now.

Gov. “Flip-flop” Romney

He's really not as "flip-flop" as some would make him out to be. His record is one of a pro-life fiscal conservative who held the line against an aggressively anti-gun, 85% Democrat legislature in Massachusetts. And there's no reason to punish someone who has actually listen to conservatives and adopted more and more of their positions over the years. In fact, that's what we want our elected representatives to do.

I believe you are right. I've thought about the electoral votes, and I just don't see Guiliani or Thompson winning. I mean Thompson would win huge in southern rural states, but that only is 25% of the electoral college. Romney on the other hand I believe is just conservative enough and willing to give guaruntees on social issues that he can win the south too, yet also win many states outside.

Romney’s not gonna win South Carolina, even if he did have Dobson’s endorsement!! There is no way, a Massachusetts Liberal is gonna win the ‘Heart of Dixie’-Heck most democrats are even conservative (most are black fiscally liberal but socially conservative Christians!), even if they are confused politically by voting for people like Hillary or Obama.

You’ll find more secular liberal country-club Republicans in one wing of the party..though not a majority; thank God.

I believe they are mostly Guiliani fans, big point; Romney won’t win in SC!! I am happy to say that was my most recent home..

The Union Leader can cut him off at the knees with five or six well written January editorials. Mitt is no conservative and never has been. It is not in the background and he was not raised that way. Take a look at the interaction between Governor Romney and Governor Reagan during the sixties.

Romney?

Good. I feel he has the best chance of defeating whomever the Demo-betrayers put up - including SHrillary or Obama Hussein Barack.

As for the 'flip flop' charge, I too have changed some of my 'social' values over the years, and thank God I did.

I now see the error of my former ways.

Everyone grows to some extent.

At least Romney has grown the right way.

Fred, while he would certainly be everyone's favorite uncle at Thanksgiving dinner, seems to be unable to articulate details.

And while I love him dearly as a cool person, Fred obviously doesn't have the passion needed to combat the SHrillary brigade.

Oh yes, once in a while he utters an endearing Southern truism, but it will take much much more than that in this upcoming sure-to-be brutal '08 Presidential race.

After studying and considering all the candidates, including Duncan, Huckabee, Tancrado, and Romney -- I am certain that Mitt Romney is the best man to carry the GOP message.

He might not be the most rock-rock-rock solid conservative idealogue, but he is certainly conservative enough for this right winger to accept.

If Romney gets the nomination, we lose the Presidency.

Gov. “Flip-flop” Romney is heading for the GOP nomination.

Well, first he has to break into the double-digits in a national poll.

On the plus side, he definitely seems to have a better work ethic than Fred and is backed by Joe Arpaio, my favorite sheriff and Jim DeMint, one of my favorite senators.

That being said, I think Dobson is off-base to refuse to endorse Fred at this point. He could very well be the nominee.
