Dan Rather, whose career at CBS News ground to an inglorious end 15 months ago over his role in an unsubstantiated report questioning President Bushs Vietnam-era National Guard service, filed a lawsuit this afternoon against the network, its corporate parent and three of his former superiors.
Mr. Rather, 75, asserts that the network violated his contract by giving him insufficient airtime on 60 Minutes after forcing him to step down as anchor of the CBS Evening News in March 2005. He also contends that the network committed fraud by commissioning a biased and incomplete investigation of the flawed Guard broadcast and, in the process, seriously damaged his reputation.

What was it Dan said about the National Guard papers? False, but accurate?
That weenie deserved everything he got. I’m no fan of CBS, but Dan did this to himself and he alone deserves the blame.

Haha! He contends that the network committed fraud! Guess if anyone would recognize fraud it would be Rather.

Some people claim there’s a woman to blame,
But I say, it’s his own damn fault!

Political theatre.
By the time this goes to court, the elections will be in full swing and Danny and his lawyers can go full court press on all sorts of propaganda.
He doesn’t have a case but this is not about his contract or CBS’s contractual obligations, this is about keeping his noise and news in front of the public during the campaigns.

In the lawsuit filing, Rather claims the National Guard story was never proven false.
He is still clinging to the old line!

You beat me to that one.
So Dan is telling us he didn’t write the story? Wasn’t responsible for it in any way? And all he did was read it on the air? Not a reporter at all, just a talking head?
If all that is true, shouldn’t he be praying that no one demands that he give back all those millions he was paid while masquerading as a great journalist (whatever that is)?
