A powerful bomb killed a pro-government lawmaker and six others Wednesday in a Christian neighborhood of Beirut, threatening to derail Parliament's already deeply divided effort to elect Lebanon's next president in voting due to start in days.

Antoine Ghanem, a 64-year-old member of the right-wing Christian Phalange party, was the eighth anti-Syrian figure and fourth lawmaker from the majority assassinated since 2005, reducing the ruling coalition's margin in Parliament.

Funny how “members of the left wing ‘X’ party” never get assassinated.
When are the Lebanese going to assassinate Assad?
He’s just a figurehead. Its his fathers security people and generals that run that country. They are the ones cordinating all this.
So send a message to them.
I’m sure this will stop just as soon as Assad’s limo explodes with him in it.
Bashar al-Assad, leader of the Syrian Ba’ath Party (the Syrian Arab Republic is a single party state) is tucked away in the safety of Damascus, the Lebanese can’t touch him.
