Perhaps the Democrats could have suggested this program years ago instead of sandbagging everything the Bush Admin has tried to do and shoehorning millions of illegals onto the public purse. But I digress...
To: Albion Wilde
I was reading somewhere that they were going to start in the House and Senate, but couldn’t find any donors that test subjects that were qualified.

Went to the brain store, the signs read:
Army brains $3.50/lb
Navy brains $4.50/lb
Air Force brains $6.00/lb
Marine brains $77.00/lb
I asked how come Marine brains were so much.
The answer “do you know how many Marines we have to kill to get a pound?”

With the greatest respect, I note that none of you has ever had a loved one with a combat brain injury. It is no laughing matter.

They tested Marine brains but the findings were negligible.

This is a marked improvement from the 1950’s and 1960’s when the Army tested LSD, nuclear fallout, and etc. on the soldiers.

This may be a good idea. I believe the tests used to evaluate soldiers in the past were too quick to get rid of some good folks who wanted to stay.
To: Albion Wilde
I realize now, that you were posting a serious subject, but the origonal post gave no indication of how you intended to steer this post.
Remember, we posted BEFORE you posted the links to other brain injury links...

You were right to call us on that. I didn’t read the article and was making light of a headline. I appologize for belittling a serious issue. Thanks.

Thanks for your conciliatory comment!
Many of us in the DC Chapter also volunteer or visit at Walter Reed, where we have seen brain-injured troops in recovery. You watch them struggle for recognition by doctors and administrators of how subtle and hard-to-define their injuries may be. TBIs are harder to treat in many respects than physical injuries, and more so because the person may look fine on the outside, but face lots of challenges with memory and other cognitive skills.
