LONDON, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- John Marburger, one of U.S. President George Bush's scientific advisers, said climate change is real and was likely caused by humanity.
The presidential science adviser said that he was more than 90 percent certain that the current state of climate change was the direct result of greenhouse gas emissions caused by humans, the BBC reported Friday.
The Office of Science and Technology Policy director also said that without significant cuts in the output of carbon dioxide worldwide, the Earth may one day become "unlivable."
"The CO2 accumulates in the atmosphere and there's no end point, it just gets hotter and hotter, and so at some point it becomes unlivable," Marburger said.
Marburger's comments support a recent review from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change of the status of Earth's climate.
The BBC said Marburger's alarming comments come as a series of significant meetings regarding climate change are set to take place in Washington and at the United Nations.
I would not take this story at face value.
Do the research first.
Yet there are people here that want to elect another RINO to the White House (Rudy McRomney or Huckabee).
Hi! I'm from Jupiter. I'm stupider.
In the past, CO2 levels have been FAR higher (like 5X higher), and the earth's temperature didn't "become unlivable". Quit the contrary, the earth was teeming with life of all sorts.
What a brainless IDIOT!
But then again, if he really knows that is total crap and is just a backdoor socialism pied pier, then he’s not an idiot, just evil.
Won't he be surprised.
“”The CO2 accumulates in the atmosphere and there’s no end point, it just gets hotter and hotter, and so at some point it becomes unlivable,” Marburger said.””
Even the warmers don’t say it is “unlivable.”
I fear Bush is setting us up for signing onto an international (or national) carbon trading scam.
Hey go complain to China and India. Build yourself a windmill. Drive a go-cart. Just don’t ask for my money to make yourself feel better.
The first time I read the headline, I thought it stated "Hamas caused climate change."
No doubt Bush and his admin has “jumped the shark” to liberal globalism
I am afraid at the next press conference...Bush rips off his mask and....aaarrghhh its Al Gore!
Of course as the truth leaks out, we begin to find the temperature data were massaged to agree with the warm desires of the socialists. It’s all a hoax and shortly it will be exposed.
So far, NASA has admitted the temperature data for the US was ummm, uhh. ohh well, had some errors which changed everything. No longer is the last years since 1998 the hottest on record, the revised data, available on the NASA USHCN website, shows the hottest days were in the 1930s, that we know about in out few hundred years of good data(we think it’s good, but not really sure). Not clear how hot it was for the Woolly Mammoths. BTW, as an aside — Did you know when they found some Woolly Mammoths the frozen solid beasts had fresh grass in their bellies, making the calculations of how long it took for the last Ice Age to advance to be at best, interesting.
Now that the actual computer code that did the UNHCN graphs had been released, under threat of FOIA suit, the actual world climate data seems to be miraculously changing. Three times in the two weeks since the code showed up on NASA’s website. Yes the world temperature data is changing, not the results. Obviously the results don’t match the data when you take the fudge out.
Just like the “hockey stick” was a lie, the temperature curves supposedly drawn from actual data — Who knew, the data was faked ... Stay tuned ...
Okay, done. Marburger has a reputation as a vocal dissenter from the Bush administration's position on climate change. There is no reason to believe that he didn't make such statements.
No, not Hamas, but one of Hamas' neighbors is being blamed for making climate change worse.
Me thinks that UPI is scientist shopping, to validate UPI’s point of view.
He must have never used a CO2 fire extinguisher. CO2 is heavier than air.
What causes his 10% doubt? Martian warming?
Time to clean out the crack heads, Mr. President.
