Can you name the last popular show where the father was not portrayed as a buffoon? Even the Cosby show had Bill Cosby looking fairly inept a whole lot of the time - the mother was the mature one there.

I can't think of a single show where the adults are in charge and are truly adults.

To use an old term, acting adult would be squaresville. In truth, these sitcoms can be very destructive. Young viewers get a completely skewed message. Reasoned roles are just destroyed in the process.

There is one show on today that shows men in their natural setting. But in the interest of humor, even that is exagerated to the point of absurdity.

Two and a Half Men is the only show that doesn’t show men neutered to the point of unicdom, at least in the sit-com setting.

The sad thing is that there is a young kid in the show. While this leads to some incredibly funny material, the subject matter is way over his head. There are times when it borders on abuse IMO.

The men are portrayed as if they are mentally 18 to 22, but their bodies and life situations are late thirties to early forties. Don’t get me wrong, some of the situations are truly accurate, but others do stretch credibility a bit.

While it sounds like I’m panning this show, I think it is worth watching if you are an adult. I think some of it would offend people and other parts would have them rolling on the floor. As adults, I think people can sort it all out and enjoy the show.

Kids? No...
