Democratic presidential candidate Bill Richardson called Wednesday for obese Americans to be brought under the protection of the Americans for Disabilities Act.
"This is an issue of basic civil rights," said Richardson. "There are no federal laws that protect obese Americans from discrimination in the workplace, school, or anywhere else. This must change."

You just got to love our Gov.He's a real joke, and good for laughs. He never ceases to amaze me with some of the idiotic things he says. I hope he embarrasses himself as much as he embarrasses me.

No Bill, they don’t need protection. They need to get off their fat asses and exercise and/or eat properly

Well I guess if he does not get the nomination then it is because he is obese and was discriminated against.
He is an embarrassment to the whole state.

He’s halfway there.
Obese Americans = unprotected group
Obese-Americans = protected minority (even if they are the majority population-wise).
You have to “speak hyphenation to power”...

How? Special rows on airplanes with fewer, but wider, seats (for the same price, of course)?

Now there are gonna need to be a few changes around here. My posts will need to show up automatically at the top of each thread page, in bold. And to make up for past victimization from The Skinnies, the combined masses of Free Republic will be responsible for delivering Jennifer Love Hewitt to my place for some 'reparations'.

Federal Protection for the obese is fine by me is they all have to sit next to each other on the airplane, and not next to me!!
My approval does not include any freebies for the obese. They are already in the cookie jar too much.

Well I guess if he does not get the nomination then it is because he is obese and was discriminated against. Don't forget the part about him being 'half' Mexican. It will be race and obese discrimination that caused him to lose. One thing's for sure. Billy boy doesn't like to lose, and he'll be 'taking it out' on someone!
He is an embarrassment to the whole state.
He really is. I didn't realize he was so stupid but after hearing all the idiotic things he's said while campaigning, it has really been an eye opener.
There is one thing that has greatly concerned me. He went out and bought that new "governor's jet" because the other one was "too old." Has he been using that jet to run around the country campaigning? IF so, is that legal, and is there any legal recourse the taxpayers of NM have against him? That's been bugging me ever since he bought that plane. I felt sure he wanted the new one so he could campaign in style. He's such a slug!

Yes, but this guy DOES want to discriminate against smokers, because they “take up health care dollars”.

People eat themselves into oblivion and they deserve disability for it? Judas priest. Now if a person has a bonafide medical condition, apart from a clinically insatiable appetite for pizza and ice cream, then thats a whole different matter. I totally agree with you, go to any "All You Can Eat" restaurant & watch them heap the food on to their plates, about 6 times!
