If they shut off the power, doesn’t that mean they don’t have hot water? So , when they wash their bodies, hands, dishes, clothes etc. its all with cold water?
I don’t think so...and we won’t even think about the ewww in no toilet paper!
yuck!

The simple act of turning off the electricity for three days can be a great learning and growth experience for a family. Hmmmm, well, I guess we're ready, since we went without electricity for about 7 days after Katrina.
Of course, it can get expensive since a lot of the food in the deep freezer went bad before it could be eaten.

In my case I have the means to can and or dry foods, including meats. If my gas is intact it would not be such a chore, but if I have to use my outdoor stoves it would be more of a hassle, but either way I have about three days to think about it and prepare to do it.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste, unless of course it’s a liberal, then throw it away, save the planet.

8 gallons of water per dayI'm reminded of the punch line of a joke my father told me many years ago about life in the good old days: Flush the toilet, company's here!

I read recently that some think the reason for the population explosion was the discovery of antibiotics. When we get a few more superbugs, the GR should regain the upper hand.

Salt would seem to be a good option. Course I don’t know if a good liberal could bring himself to use it. Salt... baaad.

"Ewww...wouldnt want to play Scrabble with them. Imagine what is cultured on those tiles..."
Then again, if you're playing Scrabble in the dark, you could make up any words or scores - how would the others know? .......unless you "smell-coded" each tile..... You were right - Ewww!

To me salt is one of those preparedness freebies, dirt cheap, no shelf life, and useful as all get out.
You have to have directions on preserving before the electricity goes out though.
I even keep a Morton’s lite salt, sugar, baking soda mix recipe in my car and emergency pack.

"In essence, the project has really slowed down time, which is pretty amazing considering how fast time has become, and especially with us living in New York - you come home to a quiet, soothing cocoon." Slowed down time and everything? Wonder why her laundry doesn't get done?
No honey, time isn't slowed down. A day feels like forever because your husband is a moron and you're stupid enough to go along with his idiocy.
