RUDY HAS GUN FOES ON EDGE (gun-grabber Giuliani sucks-up to NRA Friday)
NY POST ^ | September 19, 2007 | CARL CAMPANILE

Posted on 09/19/2007 4:14:42 AM PDT by Liz

--SNIP--As NYC mayor, Giuliani was an ardent supporter of gun control - supporting a ban on assault weapons over the objections of many Republicans in Congress, as well as the NRA. In 1995 Giuliani blasted the NRA's opposition as "way overboard".........

Amazing what a desperate hunger for power can do to a man.

Reinvented Rooty now says "he supports the Second Amendment and believes gun laws should be addressed by the states."

Wrong again, Turdiani.

Dumbo forgot the "Supremacy Clause" means the hallowed 2nd Amendment is for all 50 States (and territories).

Not what a power-monger ex-NYC RINO mayor says it is.

To entrust our sacred right to bear arms to Turdiani would be tantamount to gutting the constitution.

"Gun Grabber" Guiliani.
"Terri-killer" Thompson.
"Flip-flopperator" Romney.
"Commodore CFR" McCain.
"Isolationist" Paul.
"Who the Heck?" Hunter.
"Hola Amigos" Huckabee.

The deep political discourse just keeps coming on FR....

If Mitt Romney can have a conversion on the issues, then why not Rudy Guiliani?
People say “well Mitt was just trying to get elected in an extremely liberal state.”
And likewise, Rudy was just trying to bring law and order to an extremely corrupt city.

Rudy has said that his prescription for New York was unique to that city and its problems, and it needn’t be, and shouldn’t be applied to other localities.

Wrong again, Turdiani.

Stuff like this is tiresome and childish.

The NRA and Rudy have been moving to middle ground quite a bit recently. With the NRA’s tendency to compromise with the gun-grabbers, I predict that they will probably endorse him.

The discourse was there and ample in Liz’s post. You just happen to attack the poster because of their use of a clever slogan that offends your sensibilities because of your undying love for Rudy.

To friggin’ bad (and thats an example of my ‘discourse’).

Yes it is quite the example. Are you on the rag? I mean maybe you are really "Vaquera"? You're just so hysterical! And you jump to false conclusions hysterically.

I have no preference. Huckabee is the closest, but that's not settled.

POSTS YOU REALLY OUGHTA REMEMBER:

By: ko_kyi; “We take into consideration a candidate’s past record and what they’re saying now and what they’ll do in the future,” said NRA spokesman Andrew Arulanandam (re Giuliani’s address).

I read that a guy once sued a politician for not keeping his campaign promises. The suit was dismissed, and the judge essentially said “Only an idiot would believe a campaign promise.”

I should think that anyone who is running for President would have their beliefs on such core issues as abortion and the Second Amendment (as well as the entire Constitution) firmly held long before they decided to run for office.

I’m just puzzled by the double standard by many on FR when it comes to Romney and Guiliani.
They’ve both canged their tune on many of the same social issues.
The only difference is Guiliani is at least a reliable GOP partisan, while Mitt “I was an independent during the time of Reagan-Bush” Romney would sell his own mother for a handful of votes.

The NRA defends the Second Amendment with the lawsuits for the Katrina victims, Castle Doctrine, CCW laws, the Manufacturer’s Protection Act and the end of the Assault Weapons Ban. clintoon blamed them for the lib’s election losses.

What has your gun group done lately?

First of all I am not an NRA basher, I am an NRA Life Member, have been for 20 yrs. I am more than just a little bit miffed by their willingness to compromise. I hope I am wrong about the endorsement, but I have seen them endorse patently anti-gun RINO politicians here in Virginia, just because they were incumbents.

What has my (other) gun group done lately?

Sure we are not as dominant on the national stage as the NRA, we are solidly grass-roots, and we don't compromise either.

I’m puzzled by FR's double standard when it comes to Romney and Guiliani. They’ve both changed their tune on many of the same social issues. Guiliani is at least a reliable GOP partisan, while Mitt Romney would sell his own mother for a handful of votes.

Not so fast-----there is a BIG difference and it is this:

Rudy is engaged in religious cleansing of the Repub party....with an emphasis on throwing social conservatives off the party boat.

Giuliani told conservatives to get lost when he was Mayor and now as a 2008 candidate he thumbs his nose at conservatives every chance he gets.

OTOH, Romney has assidously courted conservatives, went to the RTL convention and other conservative forums ----forums Rudy has avoided like the plague.

Romney defended religious beliefs without apology. Rooty promotes secularism, moral relativity, and religious cleansing of the Repub Party.

=========================================

Now Rooty's stupid plan to ignore conservatives and sail to victory is not working---he discovered he NEEDS conservatives to make a primary showing, so he's opportunistically changing his tune, thinking "dumb conservatives" won't notice.

That's why conservatives are not buying whatever Rooty's selling.

All snyde remarks aside, I am not about to trust my Rights to any formerly juxtaposed candidate having an 11th hour epiphany. Fuhgeddaboudit. No Rudy. No Mitt.

SINCE WHEN DO REPUBLICANS LET THE DEMOCRAT MEDIA DECIDE WHO THEIR "FRONT RUNNERS" ARE?????

As long as they are levelling the playing field, it is going to take a ladder truck to reach the 30 yard line.
