WASHINGTON - Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton said Tuesday that a mandate requiring every American to purchase health insurance was the only way to achieve universal health care but she rejected the notion of punitive measures to force individuals into the health care system.

"At this point, we don't have anything punitive that we have proposed," the presidential candidate said in an interview with The Associated Press. "We're providing incentives and tax credits which we think will be very attractive to the vast majority of Americans."

She said she could envision a day when "you have to show proof to your employer that you're insured as a part of the job interview — like when your kid goes to school and has to show proof of vaccination," but said such details would be worked out through negotiations with Congress.

Did anyone hear the Panel last night? They were ALL (even Dr. K.) in agreement that it was a good plan. I couldn’t believe my ears.

“When are we going to admit that we’re too stupid to make our own decisions?! It is time we let someone smarter decide where we should work, where we go to school, and our medical options...it’s time for Hillary...it’s time for socialism. After all, socialism is a roaring success wherever it has been used”

Thanks for that~ I love when I get a good laugh on FR.

What percentage of Americans can see through a game show filled with unverifiable polling data put on by a liberal network purporting to represent the thinking of Americans? It sounds like a clear case of propaganda game to me.

I doubt it. I've seen articles citing numbers as high as 65%. I will be on the lookout for other sources and post them as I find them.

Never underestimate the number of people who want to be taken care of and want something for "free".

to me, Hillary’s policy is the worst of both worlds-—government forcing people to do things, possibility of penalties, but letting the insurance companies run it their way and control prices. this plan will just increase demand, which will increase prices, and let the insurance people get fat while the government forces us to become their dependents etc etc

this third way-—the public/private partnership-—is the worst of both worlds and won’t satisfy anyone right or left
