And Mitt Romney was the least popular — ZERO votes — among debate delegates representing a voter bloc without whom no Repub can win the White House.

Some Soros-funded 527 will be more than happy next year to run TV ads in the South showing video of Mitt ever so passionately explaining his unwavering commitment to “a woman’s right to choose” (to pay an abortionist to kill her prenatal child), even invoking his deceased mother’s “courageous” support of abortion on demand.

Or his belief that homosexuals should be allowed to participate in the Boy Scouts.

Or featuring the daily Salt Lake City newspaper — the one owned by his own church — editorially criticizing Romney for making money from the sale of pornography.

Or perhaps they’ll mail millions of southern voter a copy of Mitt’s letter seeking the endorsement of the “Log Cabin” homosexual activist group, in which he endorsed forcing our military to integrate individuals openly involved in homosexual activity and promised he’d be more effective than Ted Kennedy at promoting the homosexual agenda. (He got their endorsement, twice.)

Yep. There’s a surefire formula for putting even Southern states in play against a former First Lady of Arkansas.

Think Huckabee could hold the South against Hillary? Uh-huh. He’d likely even carry Hope.

As opposed to all earlier straw polls won by whichever candidate had enough $$$ to rent busses and pay people to show up.

I can only hope..I am currently a Tancredo guy, but Huckabee is my #2 or 3. If only the media weren’t the one’s that pick the so called frontrunners. Huckabee would have been a Top-Tier candidate in yesteryear..heck he still might be (if he can do well on the ground..!).

I used to like Mike too. I campaigned hard for him before he was elected Lt/Gov. in Arkansas.

Went out in force again when he ran for Governor.

But something happened to Mike. His heart grew bigger than his body, and he drank more than his share of his so-called "Jesus Juice" when he took on the role of the Savior of Illegal Immigrants.

That's why I can't support him anymore.

I’m high on all the pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-liberty, pro-America conservatives running. It just so happens that FRed seems to be flying higher than the others at the moment. I’m praying he soon knocks Rudy McRomney out of the race and all conservative boats rise.

Kinda disappointing that a pro-illegal/anti-American candidate like Huckabee would win such a poll.

Maybe more demonstrative of the GOP being toast in 08 than the liberal globalist wing of the GOP pushing Rudy/McCain/Romney/Thompson.

I will not vote for any candidate weak on illegals. Huckabee thinks illegals, and not Americabs, first. He is more along the lines of a Rudy than a conservative.

I didn’t know about his WOT positions. Seems he has also played all sides of this issue. Its too bad he doesn’t have votes to judge on. I follow votes a lot more than rhetoric.

Huckabee is pro-open borders and pro-nanny state, Jim. He praised the Clintons while criticizing Bush. Plus he's raised taxes as AR Governor.

Don't get me wrong, I like the man personally and admire his beliefs & would hold my nose if he was selected for VP since the VP can't really do nothing anyway. But as President, forget it. He's a continuation of the disastrous Bush "New Tone" and will bend over even more for the Rats.

Arkansas has become an odd place. Technically, my home office is there even though I telecommute from Texas. They’ve tried to get me to move several times and with all of the Taxes, they cannot raise my salary enough. I remember when I was a kid, everyone wanted to move there because of the low cost of living, now they have a high income tax, sales tax, and the killer, a personal property tax (separate from your normal property tax) where you have to value all your positions every year (Cars, TVs, Furniture, etc) and pay taxes on all those possessions.

Huckabee did say he is opposed to open borders at the debate last evening.

They did ask a few questions about amnesty at the debate and he seemed to give good answers at the debate. However, many of the questions which were asked were asked in a yes or no format which didn’t provide a lot of information about the nuances of the candidates views. However, he seemed solid enough on immigration that I was surprised after the debate when some other posters showed me that Huckabee had previously been strongly pro-immigration. So, he seems to have flip-flopped on this issue but at least he is on the right side now.

That said, he seems really solid on his other conservative views and I love his fair tax policy. So, he may be a lot better candidate than many of us have given him credit. If the social conservatives start to really unify around him - I for one would probably be ok with that.

I watched the debate via the online feed, and was impressed with most of the questions and most of the answers. Forget the Republican nomination - no Republican is going to win the presidency without the backing of social conservatives. That constituency is non-disposable, and the candidates have another thing coming if they think fear of Hillary is going to be enough for these voters to endorse a pro-abort, pro-gay and/or anti-gun nominee.

Yeah, I know this wasn't the first and certainly will not be the last venue for conservative candidates to communicate their stance on social issues, but it was one of the best venues to do so.
