AN assistant US attorney from Florida has been arrested for allegedly flying to Michigan to have sex with a five-year-old girl.

John D.R. Atchison, 53, was arrested after he participated in internet conversatons with a detective posing as a mother who was interested in letting men have sex with her young daughter, Associated Press reported.

According to court documents, Atchison initiated the online chat on August 29. His correspondence with the detective lasted several weeks.

At one point, Atchison allegedly said: "I'm always gentle and loving; not to worry; no damage ever; no rough stuff ever ever".

He has been charged with using interstate communication to entice a minor to have sexual contact, and travelling across state lines with the intent of engaging in illicit sexual contact. If convicted of both charges, he faces up to 40 years in prison, Associated Press reported.

I have searched high and low and I cannot find one newspaper story or media report that states the FACT that this predator is a DEMOCRAT. EVERY news account of Sen. I went to the Tallahassee area papers and searched for old news stories about him and he is a democrat. You can do the same. I guess you are just a “professional againster”. My opinion about Freepers doing nothing is well founded and based on the absence of resistance to the Marxist juggernaut that organizes protests and political activism like no body’s business. It was a doozie, if I do say so myself. I say, better to do something and fail than to do nothing and succeed. If the info I found on the pervert being a democrat is inaccurate I will have egg on my face. It is hard for me to believe that if he is in fact a republican that the media, (as far as I searched) showed unanimous restraint in not naming his party. What strikes me as unthinkable is not so much that he is sick, but that he would leave traces of his depravity in cyberspace. I am about as straight as they come, but in my last job I went four years without sending or reading Email, in house or outside. Now, most of my work was “dumb terminal” type stuff, but it is stupid to say anything compromising that can be printed out, sent to a screen, or placed on a tape. I have "doggedly" corrected folks from repeating a false meme started by Binstence, he was the first to bring up unsupported party affiliation as "fact"...

It has been reported here and other places on the web also confirmed by other FReepers on this thread that this guy is a registered (R).....

I know this is no fun for many here but the most probable reason that no political affiliation is mentioned in the news reports, is not some media conspiracy to cover-up his affiliation... but the simple fact that he was not in a political position... an Assistant U.S. Attorney in his position is a hired, civil service type position, not an elected office or a political appointment (he was hired in the 80's).

For this reason alone I find Binstences claim to have found old news stories about him that mention his political affiliation specious at best... he was a Assistant US Attorney who primarly prosecuted financial/accounting type crimes... not the type to often make the news ...

Tell you what ... do me a favor and try to find in past news stories any time when an Assistant US Attorney is mentioned along with his political affiliation... it's not done, because AUSA is not a political position...

But the media does extend this courtesy to elected Democrats. Part of the attraction of FR is to dig deep into stories. As the MSM likes to hide the Democrat tag on thieves, liars and cheats, it's easy to jump to conclusions when party affiliation is not mentioned in a story like this. Besides, I have still not seen the proof the guy is a Republican. Where is the link?

And you don't have to defend your sexual orientation to me.
