Saudi women face cul-de-sac ( banned from driving )
Telegraph ^ | 18/09/2007 | David Blair

Women in Saudi Arabia have challenged one of the kingdom's social mores by forming a committee to lobby for the right to drive cars.

At present, all women are banned from driving...

But the issue arouses intense emotions ... Pious male Saudis argue that allowing women to drive would begin a general collapse of morality. Following a strict interpretation of Islam, Saudi Arabia enforces an almost total segregation of the sexes.

If women drove, they would come into contact with petrol pump attendants. No longer reliant on male relatives to shuttle them around, they would be able to leave the house without always seeking their husband's permission.

"...allowing women to drive would begin a general collapse of morality."

That explains Britney Spears and Lindsey Lohan.

I would love to have this story get national attention.

I’m not at all sure the females of this country know about the ban against driving by Saudi women. Not that the National Org of Gals shouldn’t be railing at the gods about it but they’ve sold their soul to the lesbian crowd ages ago.

This is the kind of PR this country needs to hear. I’m serious. The simple right to drive the public roads denied a female. Let this get out there.

Also, as I travel the highways and byways, not that I go anywhere but I’m just saying....I talke to a lot of women who do not know that when they see Arab women wearing that Burka that they MUST wear it. It’s not a voluntary thing is what I explain to them. Indeed, many women in America think Arab women wear burkas as a sort of quaint religious custom.

Yeah. Driving and clothes. Women get this. If the administration wanted to get more support for this war they’d hire PR folks to get this sort of thing out there.

I am perfectly serious.

It’s Common Sense and I’m in charge of it.

"Pious?????" Deluded, perhaps. Obsolete. Stuck-in-the-past. Archaic. Myopic. Bigoted, maybe. But "pious?" I don't think so.

Heck, letting them out of the tent without a sound thrashing has already started a general collapse of morality. Next thing you know, they'll be thinking of themselves as humans, instead of chattel!

Having driven in many countries around the world, I have to rate Saudi one of the most dangerous. Not as dangerous as the PI.

"Pious male Saudis argue that allowing women to drive would begin a general collapse of morality...."

No doubt. As soon as you let them drive a car, the next logical step for them is undoubtedly phone sex.

It boggles the mind just how totally f'd up these people are.

This reminds me of a story from the first Gulf War, when a Saudi man was offended by the sight of a female US soldier driving a truck in his country. He got the driver’s door open, stopped the vehicle and dragged the soldier from inside of it.

For his efforts, she promptly kicked his butt and left him laying flat on his back.

And it starts with driving.

Then it's education.
Then it's voting.
Then it's abortion.
Then it's equal pay.
Then it's equal rights.
Then it's lesbian rights.

The Kingdom is doomed!

Imagine that.

The horror of it all.

Apparently muslim men are dictator wannabes. Not all of them can rule a country, but they can at least rule the handful of people they call their family.

What control freaks.

Ever driven in Italy? Those people are certifiably insane. Italy can best be described as chaos in motion.

The ban applies to all women, including foreigners. Women diplomats, the wives of diplomats, etc. cannot drive. The only exception was made during the Gulf War when US women in the military were allowed to drive military vehicles.

The administration is a PR nightmare. That and it would take some backbone to play this PR line instead of the same ole Islam is cool and the war is not about the Religion of Peace, blah, blah, blah. But you’re right. We would get more soccer mom support if we hammered this theme.

I actually prefer driving in Germany than in the United States (I've been driving in deutschland for a month now). There's the downside of a maximum speed limit in the cities of 31 mph, but the autobahn is great. Here, I can drive at a constant speed of 100 mph, and it's all good (in most areas). That may seem very unsafe, but I'm thinking it's safer than the U.S. It does not involve changing lanes unless faster vehicles are behind you. However, such a speed is VERY illegal in the U.S.

I mean, you’re talking fifty percent of the population being females and everything.

Hey, the Islamokooks play the PR game and they’re winning!

The administration needs some serious females such as myself, just picking someone at random, to tell them how to harness the amazing energy of the hand that rocks the cradles across this land.

Women understand this stuff and soon enough so would their families.

And yet....well glad you understand what I’m trying to say here.

This is what liberal women also want ?

Well, the next step is obvious and will definately doom the kingdom and has been over looked by all other Freeper's who have posted a reply:
Women will be driving and talking on a cell phone at the same time without a male relative escorting them
