It's enough to let a new Democratic president have her way legislatively without too much trouble.

Well at least we have our principles. ;-)

Are Republican RINO Senators Becoming Endangered Species?

Republican Senators will become an endangered species if the Republicans screw up again and run like timid Rat wannabes in the 2008 elections.

With major Hispanic immigration, Colorado has become more and more blue: Witness the election of Democrat Ken Salazar to the Senate in '04.

No wonder the Rats are so heavily in favor of amnesty for illegals.

Warner has always been a loser, remember when he voted against Robert Bork for instance?

As for Ted Stevens....he’s a great example of whats wrong with the GOP. As is George Voinovich, one of my two Senators.

FREEPERS have been saying this for awhile. Of course they are being blasted just like 2006 even though they were right. Just remember though that in 2004, Republicans were saying that the Democratic Party was over. Now it looks like they are saying the Republican party is over...Guess what? Neither party is going away anytime soon.

Agreed. Eventually the pendulum will swing back. It always does.

Perhaps we should start a campaign of not returning any incumbents to their office...Senator, Representative, State, or Local...or any other offices.

“Thank you for serving, now go home and get a real job! You only get one bite of the apple. or perhaps more appropriately 1 turn at the public trough.”

Could you imagine the Kennedy, Kerry, Pelosi, Byrd, and Reid waiting in the unemployment line...Gabriel could sound the Last Trump...

Democratic President have “her” way.....Saw Hillary on Morning Joe this morning. He asked her how she got through those years when so much hate and venom were being directed towards her. She responded that it was her “faith” that got her through those tough times. I almost spit up my coffee, but tried to listen with objectivity. I must say that during the entire interview, she had her “A” game on. She is going to be one very tough person to beat in 08. Unless a lot of things change our way in the next year, she will be President and have a very friendly Congress. Better start praying.

My concern is the amount of pain and suffering required before that can happen. The GOP is a pretty demoralized bunch right now and it has taken place on President Bush’s watch. Hillary is stepping into a perfect storm which has the potential to make her President and give her a very friendly congress all at a time when Iran, NK and Syria, not to mention Russian and China, are licking their chops. I hope the country survives a 2nd President Clinton.

You think you got it bad, we here in Florida have Nelson(D) and Martinez(R), both staunch invasion, errr, immigration advocates. Might as well put a (D) behind both of their names.

The more probable scenario is loss in Virginia, Maine, Oregon, Colorado and New Hampshire. Hold in Minnesota and Nebraska. Pickup in Louisiana. South Dakota depends entirely on Johnson’s health. If he campaigns with adequate speech, he loses. If he campaigns with signs of illness and slurred speech, he wins.

So the loss number looks like a net 4. The Dems would be at 55.

Improving on that requires beating Johnson, holding Virginia with some very strong candidate vs their former Governor, and flooding our Maine incumbent with money, despite her sometimes not voting as we wish. Oregon . . . we win that seat in a surprising way just about each election. It’s a liberal state and the GOP senator from there has to take the occasional liberal position. We have to fund him in order to get those conservative positions from him we would not get from a Democrat. Specifically his votes for Roberts and Alito.

In general, to hold seats in these states, we have to recognize that we cannot do better than this. In these particular left leaning states, we cannot do better than a moderate GOP candidate. A moderate votes with us more often than not. We lose them on some big votes, but . . . per the USSC confirmation votes, we get them on big votes too. We would never get a Dem.

Smith in Oregon is the classic case. Here is a link to the Alito confirmation vote.

http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=109&session=2&vote=00002

Look at Smith’s Yea. Now look at Dryden, his Democrat counterpart from Oregon. Nay.

So she did not screech? Usually she does not screech during firengly interviews but she screech a lot when campaigning and when in debates. Anyway she has a fatal problem in her character that will make it very hard for her to be President. She is simply too mean, too nasty, too fake, too arrogant and too dull to become President. Neither her nor the media can do anything about it.

The Republican party has only itself to blame with this fiasco they’ve created.

The Rino’s in the Senate just ruined that body for so long. The question I have is does it really matter?

I have more faith in the house than in the Senate. Most of those senators are blowhard egotistical morons anyway.

I am really worried about the Senate at least more than the Presidency believe it or not. I know that sounds crazy, but I really want that darn Supreme Court to FINALLY be on our side with a few justices to spare. I am afraid that it will not happen with a hard majority democratic Senate. Plus all the other crap that they can pass. I just can’t believe that they might be really veto proof soon...That pendulum better start swinging back soon.

The Republican party is going to have to adapt if it’s going to stay viable.

At the risk of being flamed, I would suggest three strategies for the Republicans:

1. Admit global warming is potentially a serious problem. Have a real plan to do something about it. By building nuclear power plants, for example, we could solve a lot of the problem.

2. Admit the postwar governance of Iraq was a royal screwup. It’s not like it’s a secret anyway.

3. Take on socialism without apologies. Convince people that free markets do work. Make this point the central battleground.
