How is this has beens refusal to go on a gabfest known for leftwing lunacy and talking over each other worthy of a news cycle?
Not sure if we can call Manilow a has-been. Granted we don't hear him on pop radio today ( except on the Adult contemporary dials ), but for some strange reason, everytime he comes out with a record, it hits the top 10 of the charts.
His Greatest hits of the 60's hit #1 when it first came out and is still selling briskly at Amazon ( never falling below the top 200 ).
Also, his Vegas shows are always sold out.
Not defending his decision to boycott the View, but I can't call him a has-been by any stretch of the imagination.

I saw him in concert (maybe 25 + years ago?) here at Pine Knob and the show was really great. I can't fault his entertainment ability but he's turned into another lefty wacko who doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut.......

Can we call him a douche bag?

"... I can't call him a has-been by any stretch of the imagination."Exactly. Manilow is still very much in the game. And just because I may not care for his material or his political viewpoints, I'm not going to deny that he's a very capable artist, song writer, producer and businessman. I think it's petty for others to do so.
