I always say tell them: take your kid to an emergency room anywhere in America at 11 o'clock at night, and then tell me there aren't two Americas. That's actually a great line, whether you agree with the sentiment or not. Chris Matthews comes from that sort of background and comes up with great lines, too. It would work great in a speech or a debate. You could even come up with more "examples" and stretch it out.
