When my buddy the deputy told me he was getting a Bushmaster M-4 clone, I thought "crap...what the heck for?!". But he's an avid shooter and he pointed out that at 100 yards with any "reasonable" handgun, you're still in a great deal of danger against an adversary with anything semi-auto that shoots 7.62x39, or .223 Rem.
