Things aren't lookiing good. Hillary worried about these kinds of problems, but failed to prevent them:
" Of all the possible vulnerabilities ... Some sort of fund-raising scandal that would echo the Clinton-era controversies of the 1990s and make her appear greedy or ethically challenged."
Yet nine months into her campaign, Mrs. Clinton is grappling with exactly the situation she feared giving up nearly $900,000 that had been donated or raised by Norman Hsu, a one-time fugitive and one of her top fund-raisers, whose actions raise serious questions about how well the campaign vetted its donors. As a result, Mrs. Clinton now finds herself linked to a convicted criminal who brought in tens of thousands of dollars from potentially tainted sources."
So they're returning the money. But then they're asking for it back:
" The campaign will try to get most of the donors to give the money back right after the refunds..."
But it doesn't seem like a very good plan, since there are worries about the donors, whose names the campaign still refuses to release:
Mrs. Clinton and her advisers are concerned that rival campaigns or the news media will dig into the background of each donor, and they want to be prepared if some of the donors end up having money funneled to them from Mr. Hsu or have shady backgrounds.
If the money was funneled from Mr. Hsu, it may have to be returned a second time, since the WSJ reports that it might be stolen:
" Where did Norman Hsu get his money?"
Meanwhile, Jim Geraghty notes conveniently shifting standards of responsibility:
" So let me get this straight... to Hillary, Norman Hsu gets the benefit of the doubt, but not General David Petraeus? "
I guess Petraeus neglected to donate.

Let’s not forget the Clinton campaign’s initial statement: “Norman Hsu is a longtime and generous supporter of the Democratic Party and its candidates, including Sen. Clinton,” Howard Wolfson, a spokesman for the campaign, said Tuesday.
“During Mr. Hsu’s many years of active participation in the political process, there has been no question about his integrity or his commitment to playing by the rules, and we have absolutely no reason to call his contributions into question or to return them.”

Ethics?? Hillary don’t need no damn ethics!
On the other hand, there's still plenty of time for the Drive-By Media to turn Hillary's accusers into villains, and for the Republicans to wimp out.
BTTT
God help the United States of America if this suint becomes President.
Anyone wonder when the DOJ and/or FBI will investigate and expose all the Clinton “room temperature” associates? They could start with Vince Foster.
Hopefully there will not be a third term.
Geherty nails it!
Let's recount the many times that Hillary's explanation for - pick your scandel - we were asked to suspend our disbelief and/or the "books were cooked".
“Anyone wonder when the DOJ and/or FBI will investigate and expose all the Clinton room temperature associates?”
That’s easy — Never.
The truth is that Clinton could have slit Monica’s throat in the Oval Office in the morning and played golf with OJ in the afternoon.
Democratic Presidential Candidates to Conduct Criminal Background Checks of Major Donors
The scandal surrounding the illegal campaign donations to Senator Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) by suicidal fugitive Norman Hsu has stirred action in several campaigns. Senator Clinton reversed her original decision to donate only Hsus personal $23,000 contribution to charity and agreed to return the entire $850,000 she received from Hsu-linked donors. In addition, Clinton campaign spokesman Howard Wolfson said the campaign would be seeking assurances from donors that theyre not criminals before accepting their future contributions.
The Edwards and Obama campaigns have said they will conduct similar rigorous measures to ensure that dirty money doesnt affect the outcome of the race.
The decision to tighten the scrutiny of donors did not come easily, said Wolfson. As Democrats we take pride in representing all the people. Up to now, this has included criminals. Were not entirely comfortable with an exclusionary policy. This is what the Republican Party does. Its ugly and its not the kind of America we want to live in. But to avoid being smeared for our open-arms, open-palms policy, were going to have to live by their rules, at least for now.
In related news, Senator Clinton expressed her disapproval of the $5 million bail set for Hsu. This exorbitant bail will keep Mr. Hsu safely behind bars, Clinton complained. Its like hes being punished before hes had a fair trial. He shouldnt have to suffer like this. What he really needs is someone to help him relieve his pain.

Of course they do! They can't let on how they knew who the straw donors were so quickly!
..... or the media back then had alternative things to cover like the OJ Simpson circus.
Interesting enough with OJ getting in trouble again, the circus is back in town.
How convenient. Right?
No comment on the article, but for the love of Pete, can we PLEASE stop with the inane plays on “Hsu”? Not a one of them has been creative or funny or even memorable. They’re childish, stupid, and focus more attention on the intellectual deficit of the writer than on the issue at hand. Enough!
” What he really needs is someone to help him relieve his pain.”
“Osama” Clinton speaks............. A hidden message in her response............
“Anyone wonder when the DOJ and/or FBI will investigate and expose all the Clinton room temperature associates? They could start with Vince Foster.”
I don’t know. Let’s ask the AG. Oh wait, there is no AG.
Things that make you go hmmm...............
“He shouldnt have to suffer like this. What he really needs is someone to help him relieve his pain.”
Yes, I bet Hillary would like to ‘put him out of his misery’.
Sounds as if someone is having difficulty making an honest buck. Hillary's appeal apparently has its limitations.
well , I’m still scratchin’ my head though , at HOW LUCKY HRC IS ! ! !
there are teams of journalists working this story , but Sir Edmund Hillary Clinton reaps the benefit of ,..
1. Wall-to-Wall Petraeus/Iraq Hearings coverage on the Sunday morning shows , ..
and then . . .
2. O.J. “The Murderer” gets arrested , sucking the remaining oxygen from the TV coverage , sheeeesh!
