Matt Bai, of the NYTimes Magazine just said on cspan that GWB campaigned in 2000 on changing the tone in Washington - and he did - not for the better!!! The polarization that now has drifted all the way down to the local level is Bush’s fault!!!!!
UNNbelievable!
This journalist is trying to comport himself as non-partisan, but that statement just gave away his bias.
The same Matt Bai moderated several forums on the democrat-koshack convention recently.
Yeah the Dems really wanted to get along with Bush. /s

The dinosaur media is all over the new Greenspan book because it criticizes the Bush administration. What I heard once, and only once, is that one of Greenspan's main complaints is that Bush's strategy of non-confrontation in order to "geta along," IOW to change the tone, was a huge mistake.
I agree. That's why I hope he nominates Ted Olsen for AG.
If Democrats are upset with the tone, they can look at their OWN conduct since 2000 for the sole cause.
IMHO you cannot go to far as long as you do not loose your principles and I do not believe that he has, maybe he has not done all that people wanted him to do but most things he said he would do he has. Social security reform he tried and tried but the dems thwarted that at every turn plus many of his own party.
At the end of the day I am sure that GWB feels that he has tried but the tone may have improved in some areas but not as much as he had hoped but it takes both sides to do that and one side is not prepared to do so.
Despite what the MSM try to allude though the actual administration has had very few scandals and especially those that have resulted in sudden resignations. Morally I think that the majority of his closest advisers have behaved themselves which IMHO comes from the top both the President and the Vice President are deeply committed family men with solid marriages and I believe that influences other peoples behavior.
