Keyes looks to rescue GOP, announces run for president
WND ^ | September 15, 2007 | Joe Kovacs

Former Reagan diplomat says he's unmoved by lack of moral courage displayed by others FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – After two previous runs for U.S. president, former Reagan diplomat Alan Keyes has announced he's again seeking the White House in the 2008 election, and he'll take part in Monday night's Republican presidential debate here.

Keyes told syndicated radio host Janet Parshall he's "unmoved" by the lack of moral courage shown by the other candidates, among whom he sees no standout who articulates the "key kernel of truth that must, with courage, be presented to our people."

Alan is a great man, but when I donated money for his IL Senate run, he spent all of it asking me for more. I would like him to be appointed to a nice position in a Thompson administration where he can pay off his debts by doing something other than running for office.

Alan is a great man...

Maybe so but there are a couple of other great conservatives in the race and Keyes will only cause a further split among them.

I would have agreed with your sentiments....but, I have questions regarding the following claims:

Minutemen not watching over funds

Jerry Seper, THE WASHINGTON TIMES | July 20, 2006

A growing number of Minuteman Civil Defense Corps leaders and volunteers are questioning the whereabouts of hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions, of dollars in donations collected in the past 15 months, challenging the organization's leadership over financial accountability. Many of the group's most active members say they have no idea how much money has been collected as part of its effort to stop illegal entry -- primarily along the U.S.-Mexico border, what it has been spent on or why it has been funneled through a Virginia-based charity headed by conservative Alan Keyes....

Keyes is an ego maniac who thinks he and only he knows the TRUTH. This, like all his other campaigns, will go down in flames.

Fred is a member of the globalist entity, the Council on Foreign Relations, which is behind the movement/push for the NAU.

Anyone who is a member of the CFR is automatically disqualified from my vote.

I like Keyes pretty well.

I think McCain is a RINO and has no chance.
I think Giuliano is a RINO and has no chance.

I think Romney is pretty conservative, but some think he's a flip-flopping RINO.
If Romney were the nominee, I wouldn't feel bad voting for him.

Then we have:

Duncan Hunter
Fred Thompson
Tom Tancredo
Alan Keyes

I'd say the GOP is going to tilt toward the base in 2008. And I think that's great.
I think the media tries to make GOP debates into non-events. But I think the debates will become forums where the Conservative viewpoint will be unavoidable, will be well-represented, and will be clearly articulated to the Public.

And the Democrat response will be: Bush is a poopy-head.

Dude, go write speeches for someone who can win. I say that as someone who was personally responsible for inviting about 10% of the attendance at a previous Keyes for President rally.

I am afraid that the dynamic of Noonan and Reagan will be absent from this race, though it is sorely needed. Too many egos.

That’s what it seems like, but I don’t know for sure...I’d like more information about the claims...there may be something behind this, and there may not be...I don’t know what the status of information on that is right now.

AuntB might know, though...she’s kept up better with this than I have...

I read the headline and thought maybe it was a Scrappleface or Onion article.

I like to listen to Keyes talk...but, IMHO, he should stay out of the race.

“Alan is a great man...”

Keyes is a professional candidate who rejected his own daughter for being a lesbian, unlike Cheney who handled a similar situation with class. Keyes is the Republican Al Sharpton.

Great man? Great men don’t call for ‘reparations.’ Great men don’t throw their daughter out in the street.

Remember this from 05?

(CBS) The 19-year-old daughter of Alan Keyes has a Valentine for the anti-gay rights conservative pundit and frequent Republican candidate.

Maya Marcel-Keyes will be making her first public appearance as a gay activist at a Valentine Day’s rally in front of the Maryland State House, says Dan Furmansky, the leader of Equality Maryland, a gay rights group.

Last summer her father, a conservative pundit and frequent Republican candidate, caused a stir during the Republican convention by labeling Vice President Dick Cheney’s lesbian daughter a sinner and calling homosexuality “selfish hedonism.”

“It was kind of strange that he said it like a hypothetical,” she told the Washington Post. “It was really kind of unpleasant.”

Marcel-Keyes told the Post her parents have thrown her out of the house, stopped speaking to her and refuse to pay for college because she is gay. She said she loves her parents.
