Rudy's 50-State Strategy (interview with Rudy)

Rudy’s 50-state strategy By Salena Zito Friday, September 14, 2007 CANONSBURG, PA-One day after the anniversary of the Sept. 11th terror attacks Republican presidential nominee Rudy Giuliani zeroed in on the Democratic front-runners – stinging Hillary Clinton, Barrack Obama and John Edwards with the sharpest words in the presidential campaign to date. Giuliani is clearly exercising a strategic move to define himself as the Republican front-runner who hopes to cinch the nomination before his GOP rivals gain steam. And he is increasing the volume on the issue Giuliani believes can catapult him to the White House: a do-or-die fight between the U.S. and international terrorism with the former New York mayor leading America’s charge. Referencing the MoveOn.org ad that painted General Petraeus as a ‘betrayer’ he called out the Democrats to “get the political games over with and get the statesmanship in line.” America "cannot go back to the policies of appeasement, retreat or surrender that Barack Obama, John Edwards and Hillary Clinton are talking about.” “What is going on in Iraq is a very serious thing,” he said at a campaign stop in western Pennsylvania. “It is not about Hillary Clinton’s career or Barack Obama’s career or my career, it is about America … it is about whether America is going to be successful or if America is going to lose, it is about whether we are going to be safe against terrorism or we are not.”

Good to see a Republican candidate turning up the heat on the Democrats for once.

Rudy is not the conservative candidate but he is the only GOP candidate with the experience and skills to take on the Clinton Machine and win despite his liberal shortcomings. I will vote for Fred if he can convince me he is capable of winning. So far I am not impressed by his political record or how he has conducted his campaign.

I've always like Rudy, but was questioning his ability to win the primaries.

I no longer doubt that. If he keeps swinging and landing these punches on the dims, Fred will be hard-pressed to win Florida and Virgina...much less the rest of the Eastern Seaboard and the West Coast. Heck, it's likely this guy will win the mountain west as well (Goldwater Pubbies).

Fighting the Jihadis and slapping around the dims is THE TICKET to the nomination.

Your handle is “Combat_Liberalism” yet you’ll vote for the liberal Giuliani. The dichotomy is most striking. Guess you’re no conservative.

Conservative Fred is gonna beat Rooty and take down Hillary too.

Why do you even care about the race then?

I hope you are right, but wishful thinking will not keep the Beast out of the White House. I am a conservative but that does not mean I have to be a chump.

I have been listening to Rush Limbaugh this week and even he is open to the possibility of a Rudy nomination. He didn’t endorse Rudy or any of the candidates but when he talks about the Republican candidate in 2008 he mentions Fred, Rudy and Mitt by name.

I think Rush wants a GOP win in 2008 so that stupid “Fairness Doctrine” won’t pass and therefore won’t threaten his show. More power to him.

Rush didn’t back Rudy but he didn’t dismiss him either. Rush has mentioned several times that none of the top GOP candidates are true conservatives - not even Fred. He even said that President Bush isn’t a conservative.

What is Rush gonna do if Rudy gets the nod? Root for Nadar? Rush’s livelihood will be threatened with a Democratic president. Rush is no fool.

I repeat. If Rush backs Rooty, he can kiss his conservative radio audience goodbye.

We know Rooty and Mitt aren’t conservatives. And McCain is not liked by conservatives.

But I seriously doubt that Rush said Fred Thompson wasn’t a conservative. You made that up.

Are you a day above 3rd grade? In what world does this count as discourse in your eyes?

Giuliani is dead on the money here. And you criticize him. Perhaps that’s even more striking. If you want to find another point where you disagree with him, fine. Post the article and go to it. But this is childish nonsense.

I’m not even a Giuliani fan, but the man deserves better than this skreed.

The problem is that Rudy has no credibility whatsoever. You know once he gets nominated the media is going to shred him.

The wise Maha Rushie is in no hurry to back any particular candidate, but you can be darn tootin’ he’ll give credit where credit is due.

Giuliani is doing a marvelous job for the Republican party, and yes for conservatives, certainly for Patriots this week.

I don’t see Rudy as a liberal, unless you need to paint him that way to make Thompson appear conservative...

“I repeat. If Rush backs Rooty, he can kiss his conservative radio audience goodbye.”

I repeat, you’re full of horse manure. Do you even believe half of what you post?

If you had even remotely thought through this (and giving your posting history, that would indeed be a rare occurence), Rush isn’t going to endorse a candidate until after the primaries. It would be bad for his show, bad for the conservative movement, and first and foremost, bad for his ratings.

If Giuliani wins the nomination, he will be endorsed by Rush Limbaugh. If you want to quit listening at that point, I have a feeling Rush won’t mind too much.

>>>We know Rooty and Mitt aren’t conservatives. <<<

Another feather in your cap. *rolls eyes* There really is a better of way of making your views known than calling anyone who disagrees with you 20% of the time an infidel. Think about it...
