The pastor of Sierra Heights Baptist Church was arrested on felony child molestation charges, according to police. Jail records showed John Bonine, 43, was arrested Monday and was still being held in Fresno County Jail Wednesday night as the congregation met to organize a leadership team to deal with the issue. The charges involve two children, both female, who were allegedly molested over several years.
Mansel Trimble, youth pastor at Sierra Heights, met with church members Wednesday to discuss what he called a "difficult and painful" episode for the church and for Bonine's family.
"We are looking for any way that we can be supportive to our pastor's family," he said. "We also recognize that our congregation is a victim." Bonine's bail is set at $500,000 dollars.

That is the ultimate disgust. This happens way to often and sometimes is hard to tell the tares from the wheat.
Fact. There is a great deal of sexual abuse in hospitals and the medical profession also, but it is unreported.
What a sick perverted statement! I would think the two abused girls were of the most importance.
My old church in St. Petersburg, Florida has the right idea: No men are aloud to volunteer for nursery or children's church duty, even if it's with their wives. This removes any possibility that allegations can be made against men in the church setting.
“We also recognize that our congregation is a victim.”
No, pastor, two children are the victims. Enough with this abstract group victimhood. I find it disgusting that he seems more concerned about the offender’s family and the congregation as a whole than about the two girls and their families. While the congregation or a group is going to be affected by evil acts, let’s not equate the abstract victims with the actual victims.
Kinda thought the same thing when I read the statement. Something missing there.
There are only two victims here, and the congregation isn't among them.
If Baptists allowed their ministers to marry, this wouldn’t happen.

You find what you are looking for. If you are robbed I imagine you dont report it to the police because there have been dirty cops, or if you are sick you dont go to a doctor because there are quacks out there.
We can all point at the lowest common denominator and say Look see!
It we all did that nothing would improve.
Maybe if the had two wives.
Baptist ministers aren’t allowed to marry!!!? Say it ain’t so!
Anyway, this dirtbag who abused children while occupying a position of authority and trust needs to suffer personally, and suffer badly.
):^(
No mention of the girls who were traumatized by this monster's perversion. Clearly shows where their priorities lie (as per usual, as in centuries past). This vile scum should be imprisoned for life, no parole. Let the home boys have at him. OK, I can be magnanimous. Let him out when he is on feeding tubes and colostomy bags.
Id say cut off mr. winky
It seems to me, anecdotally at least, that it happens a lot less when the clergy can marry.
“If Baptists allowed their ministers to marry, this wouldnt happen.”
Love It
