The AK-47 was developed in the aftermath of the Second World War in Russia and has seen been used by armies and terrorists around the world. The AK-47 or “Kalashnikov” – after its Russian inventor – is capable of firing 600 lethal rounds per minute at ranges exceeding 400 yards. The lethality of the AK-47 is not common among typical hunting rifles, for example. The flag of Hezbollah bears a fist raising aloft an AK-47.

Another stupid reporter. Nobody is going to fire 600 lethal rounds in a minute in excess of 400 yards from an AK. Depending on how the weapons are employed, the typical hunting rifle can be far more lethal than the AK.

Alas, it doesn't have to be fact, it just has to be news.

Osama now has been renamed Usama.

Fact?

No

News?

Yes

Yeas, and I bet his AK was semiauto anyway.

Yeah, I hate how they distort the abilities of firearms to twist the story to their own ends. I'm glad the guy was arrested but when they get the facts of firearms wrong, that burns me. Maybe if you had a 600 round belt, you can pull it off and although the bullets can travel 400+ yards, firing that many rounds on full auto will degrade the accuracy as you would try to control the weapon plus that many at once could damage the barrel from the heat. Plus the 7.62 x 39mm Russian round isn't that powerful at all, would be good for small game, OK for deer (IIRC), but in reality, it is similar to a .30-30 round in performance.

My comment in another thread on this, is that if they want to “get it on”, I’d give the Dearbornistan jihadis about 2 days versus a pile of Michigan deer hunters with scoped bolt-actions.
