Yes, Hezbollah (Hizb Allah) did take responsibility for it. We were about to launch a serious attack on their main base in Lebanon, where it was planned and the truck bomb was prepared, but Reagan pulled the plug on the attack literally at the last minute. A short time later French jets came in and bombed the place.
It’s one of the few times I ever disagreed with anything Reagan did.
Same here. I lost a classmate in the Beirut blast and blamed Reagan for uselessly wasting our Marines. I didn't vote rat in 1984, but I didn't vote for Reagan either.
